Is my sister nuts?

Yes, we all are nuts. You have to be living in this day and time with a thinking mind. And thats debatable.

What? Can you explain in more detail what you are interested in discussing: what sort of issues are on your mind? And what your sister has to do with it?

Thank-you for calling my attention.

Did you not go to her website? I've been reading SDMB for 2 years and have not yet seen this debated. With all the smart straight dope kind appearing here this communitarian debate would be educational.

If not enlightening.

Can you give us a hundred word description of what a communitarian is, and a similar bit on the anti-communitarians ?
The website you linked to appears to be so deeply involved in its own philosophy that it's nearly incomprehensible to outsiders.

It's odd how 90% of the mission statement is devoted to talking about that they are not, not what they are. I glanced at it, but all I get is a sort of neo Constitutional inerrancy, anti-trilateralist flavor devoted to keeping one world bogeymen at bay.

It seems to be a tirade against UN involvement in "sustainable living" programs in the United States. Whether that means advanced agriculture techniques or pollution control or what, I don't know, but they seem afraid that the UN will have full jurisdiction over the United States regarding some things... I'm getting a big "black helicopter" vibe off of this. Any "communitarians" or "anti-communitarians" want to explain?

I disagree. I believe that someone can be dead in this day and time.

[Moderator Hat: ON]

yola, if you want to start a debate, you actually have to start the debate. Simply posting a link to a website that isn't very explanatory and asking in the subject line if your sister is nuts (which, incidentally, is also a non-descriptive subject line) is pretty much meaningless. I'm going to close this up. If you want to give it another shot with an actual debate, feel free to try again. But make sure you actually include some content and a proper subject.
