Does anyone else dislike drinking?

This isn’t a thread about alcohol, but I don’t like drinking that either. Or coffee, or tea, or hot chocolate, or soda or…

I know that the question “do you eat to live, or live to eat” is a pretty common one, but I’d like to ask instead, does anyone else just not like to drink? Anything?

I can’t really explain why, but I don’t like to drink. Since not drinking is counter productive to sustaining life, I do, but I will only drink water, milk, lemonade and white grape juice if I can; there are a few other juices and a couple of non-cola sodas I’ll drink if I must. I don’t love drinking them, but if you have to drink something, it should be something you can stand the taste of, right? Still, I have to remind myself to drink with meals or what have you, or else I probably won’t (I’m rarely thirsty), which isn’t really good for you in the summer; as people nag me about.

Sometimes I fantasize about there being technology equal to the food pills idea, but I hate needles more so IVs are out, and a drink pill probably won’t go down well dry, so that sort of defeats the purpose.

I suppose this isn’t a common dislike, but…anyone else wish you didn’t have to drink?

God no. I drink more than I eat and I eat a lot, as my considerable girth will attest to.

Teas, sodas, juices, water… pretty much anything except alcohol. Whereas some people love to try out new foods, new places, or new expereinces, I love trying out new drinks. For instance, when my mom went to Atlanta six months ago, she went to one of the markets there and bought a lot of different drinks for me to sample when she came back. Even though some of them were really odd (water chestnut juice with chunks of water chestnut floating in it), I opened each one up as soon as I could and tried each and every one.

I live to drink.

I’ve been accused of being a camel before.

Its not that I dislike drinking its just that I rarely have the urge to.

btw: the afore mentioned does not include alcohol; because if we were talking about alcohol… oh brother!..

I had a bad kidney infection when I was 14 and since then I’ve been pretty good about drinking lots of water. I love water. Good-tasting water. I remember visiting a friend in Atlanta and raving about the tap water there. It tasted so good and sweet. I’m sure my friend thought I was batty.

Now, some water tastes nasty (tap water, usually, excepting Atlanta, apparently). That I have to choke down. But I’ll still drink it.

So no, I have no problem drinking. Especially water. I sometimes will nurse a bottle of Pepsi for a long time, so I can sometimes take or leave soft drinks (I do love them, but you know, sometimes I’m not in the mood), but I do love water.

I, too, am a camel. Unfortunately I also have the bladder of a 5 year old girl so I have to be careful about the amount I drink in social situations – on my girlfriend’s and my first date (over a year ago now  ) I wound up leaving the movie 3 times to go to the bathroom!

The only time I’ve ever lived somewhere I had problems with the water was when I was in Regina, Saskatchewan. It has the worst tasting water on the planet. I have quite literally lived in 3rd world countries that had better tasting drinking water! I wound up drinking mostly iced tea for 2 years!

I enjoy drinking. Especially milk, but soda and water and juices and alcoholic drinks too! I cant have a meal without downing several glasses of something (even when I drink wine, I usually have a water glass at the table too). I keep a water bottle next to the bed at night, and use it frequently.

The Solution!

I drink almost anything in huge quantities, except alcoholic beverages and soda. I used to drink lots of soda too, but I got off it because it’s a lot of empty calories.
