What song do you have stuck in your head now?

Ok, I am convinced that at least 90% of the time I have some song stuck in my head that I unconciously hum for hours on end (according to those around me). Tonight's selection is "Minute Man March," a song I'm playing in band. It's driving me nuts. Anyone else share my pain?

Good timing on this thread. I was about to start one on this.

So I wake up this morning, and as I am becoming more conscious, I recognize that I am singing a song. Not entirely uncommon for me. But this is a little different. Three times in the last week, it has been the same song. And here is the kicker: I don't know the song.

I have never, to my recollection, ever heard the song, and I have certainly never memorized the lyrics. But here I am, singing it. For a while, I thought maybe I was just making up a song in my head, but that couldn't be, because the lyrics rhyme, and I'm not talented enough to do that. I could also distinctly recall the type of voice.

It was starting to get irritating, so I had to do a websearch. Turned out to be Bing Crosby's version of "Mele Kalikimaka." And I had been singing more than half the lyrics to it (and getting them completely correct), while never consciously knowing the song.

I am almost certain that it was somewhere in the soundtrack of a movie I have watched recently. Now I just have to figure out what movie it was.

I don't normally download music off the internet, but I was determined, so I snagged a copy, and listened to it several times. That seems to have helped get it out of my head finally.

I don't often get really stuck, but two or three years ago I had 'Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy' rattling around up there for at least a couple of days. I tried everything, rock and roll, country, Strauss, but BWBB was still there, even between tracks. Then on the last night I dreamed it.

There were the Andrews Sisters (I think) in uniform, and a big band in back, and the crowd out front cheering as they came onstage. They started to sing, and the bugler came out for the first chorus. After the second verse three soldiers came out, the sisters ripped off the uniform skirts to release the big swirly ones, and they started to dance. After one chorus of BWBB, the bugler segued into a chorus of 'In the Mood' (the crowd went crazy), brought it home as the sisters went back to their mikes, and wrapped up with a great fanfare of voice and trumpet.

I still remember that as the greatest performance ever.

I just wish I was awake when I saw it.

No way! I was gonna say that - closely followed by Kid Rock's version of "Feel Like Makin' Love".

I know it's in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, the scene where Clark's looking out his dining room window fantasizing about the hottie from the department store.

That must be it. I watched that movie about a week ago. Thanks for the help. I guess I better go watch it again now to put some closure on this whole thing.

Deep in the Heart of Texas which gives me the urge to do the little clap part all the time. Plus, I don't really know any of the words so it's:

mumblemumblemumble
the stars shine bright
<clapclapclap>
Deep in the heart of Texas!

over and over again. I'm going insane...

Surrender, by Cheap Trick.

Now, you know the only way to get a song out of your head.....listen to it. Well, that generally works for me.

Damn it, I don't wanna. I don't even like this song. I think I heard it in a commercial or something, so it's just the hook....repeating over and over in me brain....over the past few days.

So I now have "You Can't Always Get What You Want" rolling around in my head.

I've got a techno song that I made stuck in my head. I haven't even decided what it's called. But I've been trying to sync up the music to a video, so I've been listening to short clips of it in random places for the last half hour or so, so it won't leave my head.

(Yeah, I've got weird hobbies. I'm really pleased with the animation I made to go along with the song.)

This morning on the way to work it was 'Pretty Girls Make Graves' by The Smiths for some reason.
Saturday morning when I woke up, I had Nelson off the Simpsons doing 'Iron Man'> "I am Ir-on man, der ne ne ner nerr Vote for Me!" stuck in my head all day and I kept laughing.

Beethoven's 3rd Symphony.

I bought a boxed CD set of all 9 symphonies awhile ago and have been listening to the disc with that and the Overture to Fidelio the last few days while driving to work. It makes me happy that the tune that gets stuck in my head is so often Beethoven lately--Much nicer than the commercial jingles that usually get stuck in there for-frigging-ever.

I'm sure I've seen that performance, but don't really remember it except from the dream. Did it really have 'In the Mood' or is that part original? It does work pretty well. (I even have another person who agrees.)

And Nathan S, I'm sorry to cause you any distress.
