Why is Thursday nite Sex Nite on TV?

OK, folks, gotta ask this one. I first noticed it when HBO start running new eps of Real Sex and premiering new adult movies on Thursday nites. Then the Spike network premiered Stripperella on Thursday nite (“She’s a stripper by nite, and a crime fighter by later nite!”). Now the SciFi network is running Trippin The Rift which features the bodacious and often naked sex droid Six of One.

So I think there’s a weird consensus here … late Thursday nite is TV’s Sex Nite. The question is, how did they arrive at that formulation?

To give people something to talk about at the water cooler on Fridays, when no one wants to do any work.

Probably because they feel that most of their audience will be out getting drunk and trying to get laid on Friday and Saturday nights.

Well, yes.

Okay, it is more drinking Mountian Dew (and eating pizza) and playing D&D. And, admittedly, the only getting laid is thinking about how hot elfbabes are. So, okay, you have a point. :slight_smile: You would think, though, that geeks and nerds, at least, would know how to set up a VCR for psuedoporn if anyone did.

I’m guessing they’re trying to break the hold of must see TV on NBC, or, at least, trying to get at least a few people to watch that night in order to get advertisers.
