I found a listing of the Fall television schedule here. Scroll down to see the nightly listings.
Only thing that pisses me off is on Thur they have three shows running at the same time that I like (CSI, 30 Rock, Fringe) and the same on Friday (Ugly Betty, Medium, Southland) that is going to be a quandary…my DVR only allows me to tape two and I can’t watch the other one while it is taping the other two.
Damn I hate when that happens.
I’m glad to see the Amazing Race is back, I wish it weren’t on Sunday where it’s constantly getting moved up from late running sports (thusly screwing up my DVR).
Why would they split up How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory?
Cougar Town looks interesting.
Because T.V. viewers are notoriously lazy. If you want people to watch a new show, you put it in a slot where they used to watch a show last year, right after a show that you know they’ll be watching. By the time they realize they’re watching a different show, they’ll be hooked and it will be too late. Besides, they might as well keep the channel set to CBS since Two and a Half Men is up next.
Wow, Fringe is in a tough timeslot against Grey’s Anatomy, CSI, and The Office/30 Rock. I hope it does well.
Glad to see Castle and Dollhouse were both renewed.
Oh, for fuck’s sake. The only thing worth watching on Tuesday or Wednesday is also going to be on Thursday at 9 now?! Given I already watch Grey’s, Supernatural, and CSI (which I’m half a season behind on) I’m super thrilled by them moving Fringe. Why does 80% of what I watch need to be on Mondays and Thursdays?
Thursdays and Fridays will suck for me.
Thursday: Fringe vs. The Office vs. SDMB Poker.
Friday: Medium vs. Dollhouse; Numbers vs. Jay Leno.
Maybe not a battle - we’ll see.
Don’t forget: a lot of those are now available online (esp. NBC), so pick the one you like the most, and watch the other one when you feel like it. Or, do like me and watch everything online and don’t pay for cable/satelite, which are much higher than DSL. (of course, I also have a $50 graphics card w/TV output I use on an old computer hooked to my TV.)
ABC’s “Shark Tank” doesn’t involve an actual tank of sharks in any way, shape, or form. Bull.
Any good shows that Fox has lined up to cancel, this year?
Man, every single show I’ll be watching is on Monday or Thursday. The rest of the week is a graveyard. Do they do testing to ensure that shows with common audiences absolutely must be pitted directly across from each other?
Well, there went my viewership of BBT, most likely.
I’ll definitely be watching it via Tivo now. At least they still confine my network watching to basically 1 night a week. Once Survivor is over, they will only get me on Monday, and CBS will be the only network I watch at all.
Thank Ghu for digital cable!

Because TV execs are the biggest dicks on the planet. They actively screw their audiences as hard as they can. Find a show you like? Quick, move it to another night, another time slot, or cancel it before it has time to build an audience. Or move it to another night at another time three weeks in a row, skip a week, then wonder why it can’t find an audience, so cancel it. (I’m looking at you, FOX.)
Or, what SpoilerVirgin said. Basically, they know those two shows have a big audience that are hooked. So if they split them up, they can pair each with a new sitcom. That way, you watch the first half hour of a show you like, watch the second half hour on the same channel with a new show, and then lead in to another show you know and like, so you are less likely to switch channels.

Yes, they actively program similar shows with similar audiences against each other. “Hah hah hah, our medical drama set in a Chicago hospital beats your medical drama set in a Chicago hospital. You suck!” They only cross program when they know they will lose out on that demographic, so pick another. For instance, Monday night football. You’re going to lose the men 20 - 80 demographic, so do chick programming. Or comedies. But not motorcycle building shows. (Don’t know why USA runs wrestling then.)
Like I said, they are evil.
Damnit. This year I was complaining about House being moved versus Big Bang Theory, cause I had to remember to DVR one of them. Now this year they are not on at the same time…but I’ve gotten into How I Met Your Mother and should be definitely caught up before the new season starts, and now that is on the same time as House. Argh.
Aye…Thursday evenings now pit my wife’s favorite show (Supernatural) directly against her 2nd or 3rd favorite show (Fringe). I don’t think she knows this yet, but I can hear the conniption building already. Thank goodness for the DVR.
Damnit, CBS – why are you letting Flashpoint go? I mean, the series is still being made for Canadian television, so it was costing you a relative pittance to show it in the states as well. Maybe if you had tried giving it more (read: any) promotion, then a couple more people would have noticed that it was one of the best series you’ve shown in years. Grrr…
And while I’m ragging on CBS:
Yeah, the kids just can’t get enough L.L., can they? Goin’ Back To Cali is just lighting up the charts these days…
Looks like I’ll be watching Fringe on Hulu next year. Sigh.
All that made more sense when there were only the broadcast networks. Hey–I remember pre-remote days, when it was really hard to change channels.
Now we’ve got about a hundred cable channels–some of which actually have interesting shows. Lots of folks have DVR’s. Plus DVD’s & HULU on the nearest PC.
Will laziness always win out over distraction? “Look–something shiny over there!”
Wow Monday Thursday and Friday will be like a Tivo Sophie’s Choice for me. I’m glad one or two of the conflicts will be resolved by me watching some shows at my friend’s house. Tuesday and Wednesday are complete voids and Sunday has a relatively light draw for me.
