Wow. I’m sure her family is overwhelmed with relief right now.
How cool was it to link to a breaking news story about a kidnapping, and post it outside of the Pit?
Great news indeed.
Very cool.
Did anyone catch the news conference?
The whole case was too weird for words. If I recall correctly, the morning (approx 2:30 a.m.) of her disappearance, she left her house with no coat, no purse, no keys, nothing. We know this because her apartment’s lobby video camera recorded her before she left.
Last month, she was hit over the head and woke up behind some buildings, a couple of blocks from where she was attacked. There were no witnesses to this attack and no suspects, either.
My husband’s theory is something’s wrong with her mentally and she sort of ‘loses’ herself from time to time. I’m not so sure as the news report stated law enforcement officials were searching for a gunman.
Either way, I’m intrigued.
Police are searching the area as we speak for a suspected kidnapper (link )
That’s right on my drive home. Better find an alternate route, I guess.
I’m leaning to the “ex-boyfriend, crazed stalker” angle myself.
Yay!
Juanita, I, too, believe something is wrong with her mentally. To have been assaulted/abducted twice in recent times without any harm coming to her…something is up.
It doesn’t have to be that way. I am a staunch advocate of immortality. We ALL deserve to live forever! MICHAEL
Put me also in the “Glad She’s Home Safe, But Skeptical That It Was A Kidnapping” category.
They never found the person who supposedly kidnapped her in February, did they?
Regards,
Shodan
Oh, wait! Isn’t this the girl that went missing before? I did not know that they had found her the first time. And then she goes missing again? I’m with Shodan on this one.
After watching the news report about her disappearance this morning, I’m with my husband on this one. Something’s up and I’m not so sure there ever was a kidnapper.
How can someone lure you from your apartment and kidnap you? It would make sense if it was someone she knew but a stranger? Wouldn’t the person have to contact her via telephone? I wonder what the police found with regards to her incoming/outgoing telephone calls.
I’m glad she’s home, though, as her parents looked absolutely distraught during their interview on NBC’s Today Show.
I think the non-commital police responses and elusive press breifings tell the story. I don’t think the police are focusing on looking for a bad guy.
I’m glad someone else voiced this - I didn’t want to come across as callous.
I also believe it’s possible she has mental issues - things just don’t add up in my opinion.
Great, she’s alive, but did she need to snarl rush hour traffic yesterday?
Add my husband and I in the “there’s something very fishy going on” camp. One thing we noticed RIGHT off was when her parents were at the news conference, they didn’t smile, they didn’t even touch each other - I know my husband and I would have been crying, holding hands, showing SOME kind of emotion if our child had been found a live after disappearing like that.
Strange. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Well, they are midwesterners.
Sorry. It was just such a Prairie Home Companion-esque moment.
But seriously folks, as a UW grad (and I’ll be headed back for a visit tomorrow), I’m certainly glad she’s back.
Oh, how goesch. I’m quoting myself.
I just realized that I got this case confused with the other missing college girl case that was in the news. The one that’s been missing since Thanksgiving. I think she was going to college somewhere in New Mexico. Her name was similar to Audrey Seiler. Can anyone confirm or deny this other missing college girl case that I’m talking about?
Maybe I’m the one with the mental problems.
I’m in the “something is wrong” camp, too. Hearing about the first incident just set off alarm bells.
MSNBC is reporting the girl has confessed to the police it was a hoax. The police say they have video of her buying the duct tape and rope she claimed she was bound with.
