For Better or For Worse: Kortney! (spoiler)

She’s the FBoFW character we love to hate: she’s stolen from the book shop, lied to Elly, and threatened April. All while smugly confident that Moira, who knows all about what she’s done, can’t do a thing to stop her. Well…

Kortney finally got the axe, and it was Moira who brought it down!

So, any speculation on what the follow-up will be? Going by Kortney’s past behavior, she’s probably already got her sob story worked out to try and get Elly to give her back her job. Will Elly cave (again)? Will Moira and everyone else talk her into standing firm? Will there be a big discovery that finally proves to Elly what Kortney’s been doing?
btw, it took me a while to find that first link, I was expecting it to be in the Cafe, not the Pit.

I think, rather than return, Kortney will make an attempt at revenge. She always seemed like a spiteful sort.

I would like to take this moment to point out that back in that Pit thread, I suggested that something would happen during John and Elly’s vacation and that Moira would be the one to fire Kortney! Although I didn’t really think it would happen like that, I’d admit.

We haven’t really seen much of Moira, the store or Kortney during John & Elly’s vacation; maybe Lynn will now share with the readers what brought down the Final Axe <TM> of Moira. I am so happy that Kortney was fired! I still think Elly should have smacked her down a long time ago, though–especially after Kortney threatened April. But go Moira, Yeah!

My guess is that Kortney finally did something bad enough that Moira had to do something. However, I think we’ll subsequently find that Kortney has a good enough lie made up about it that Elly will be in quite a quandry about it … I’m going to further guess that this time it went outside the “family” and involves a customer, which is why Moira had to act. Somehow, though, somehow Kortney is going to have a fantastic story that paints her as the injured party. I’m sure of that one!

Now, how will Elly react? I suppose there’ll be some heart-wrenching indecision on her part while everyone else wonders why the hell she doesn’t see things as they are …

Assuming Elly does go along with the firing, though, AskNott is right on the money about what comes next … Kortney will do something nasty …

When I saw the cartoon this morning, my first thought was to check the Dope and see if a thread had been started on it!

Well? Has a thread been started on it?

I’ll go check and let you know…

Ah, here it is!
:stuck_out_tongue:

I just hope Moira had the foresight to get the locks changed and change the passwords on the computer. Kortney is definitely the type to vandalize the shop.

Looking at today’s strip, it seems like Moira finally got evidence the checks were bogus. So, any ideas exactly what Kortney is going to do?

vandalize the store? Naw, Kortney’ll burn it down…

but not before she takes that nifty fire-engine red Swingline stapler she’s had her eye on. G

So, am I the only one who thinks that having built the storyline up to a crescendo so many times and then let it come to this anti-climactic end, Lynn will just have Elly feel bad for a bit, then cheer up and the topic will never be mentioned again?

According to today’s strip, Ellie at last believes what Moira is telling her and understands Kourney’s list of offenses…

Elly’s faith in her fellow man (or woman) will be so shaken, she’ll go on a murderous rampage throughout the comic strip world.

First stop? That whining bitch Cathy.

And what is the lesson in all of this? DON’T MESS WITH MOIRA!!! 'Cause Moira don’t take no shit.

Then it’s off to Doonesbury, to get the other leg.

Sorry

No, please, the first stop MUST be those sniveling brats over at Family Circus.

I have a vision of a gut-shot Billy staggering into the kitchen, with a long, looping blood trail detailing exactly where he went in the neighborhood before he made it home.

Exactly! Then we can have the dead Grandpa looking down on all of them.
Oh, we’re a sick bunch. :stuck_out_tongue:

Then she can go after the “Peanuts” crowd, since Schultz dying didn’t slow it down any.

And then a shooting spree wiping out the entire Gasoline Alley cast.
