Strip
Potential creep out story line. Isn’t Paul the cop Elly met at the police station she stopped at when she was too sleepy to drive?

Yes. Elly left her glasses there; Paul drove up and gave them to Elizabeth.

Why “creep out” ?

Paul has only met Elizabeth once or twice and now his world revolves around her?

I read it the same way you did, Mr. Blue Sky. And he’s a cop, so it’s gonna be ugly. Maybe Lizardbreath will die! Wouldn’t that be exciting!

Or Warren gets killed by the cop! And forces Lizardbreath to marry him! And then Mike saves them all by writing an amusing parody of it all!

Yes, Lynn seems to have established Liz as making bad choices when it comes to men, or at least attracting all the wrong kinds of men (except for Mister Perfect Anthony, who she dumped).

Definitely pretty creepy.

You mean Mister Perfect Anthony who came to her as an unhappily married man and tried to dump his entire emotional load on her immediately after saving her from a potential rapist? That Mister Perfect Anthony?

I for one am having problems sorting out the army of men who fall for her within five minutes of meeting her. I hope this is not yet another evil man story - we’ve had one of those already.

Maybe there will be a big confrontation among her three suitors and whoever else she picks up on the way home.

Thanks for posting that link, Mr. Blue Sky. Comics.com had stopped carrying FBOFW so I hadn’t read it for a few months. I’ve got some catchin’ up to do!

I’d forgotten about Warren. I’m thinking he’ll be at the airport to ‘surprise’ her, and there will be some sort of showdown between him and Officer Paul. Pistols at dawn? That’s be a good plotline.
Or maybe not. It is Christmas, after all.

As for the OP, it does come off rather creepy. Are we supposed to infer they’ve been seeing each other? Talking on the phone or emailing, or somehow staying in touch? All we saw was him returning her mom’s glasses that one time and then nothing.

jayjay:

Yes, though I hope you realize I was using the term sarcastically. Lynn Johnston seems to be setting things up for us to always think that if she hadn’t initially dumped Anthony, the two of them would be living happily ever after. Obviously, a married man who begs his ex-girlfriend to wait for him forever is not quite perfect.

Why would Warren showing up at the airport surprise her? She’s already talked to him on the phone about it.

Second that. Note the look in her eyes in the last panel.

I suspect this will result in a post to GQ:

Can you shoot down a helicopter with a police revolver?

I, too, had a slight moment of “whoa” when I read it, but I just put it down to them having a history we haven’t been let in on.

Maybe not, though. Now I’m creeped out and it’s all the SDMB’s fault. :frowning:

Well, I haven’t read the strip in a long time, but just that strip gave me a big ol’ “stalker” vibe. And he’s a cop? That gives me a big ol’ House of Sand and Fog vibe, which is way creepier. shuder

I’ve been following it (another link you can find it at is www.fbofw.com, the official website).
I think the police guy is not necessarily a creeper, but the impression I get is that he’s moving way too fast for Liz’ taste. Yesterday (day before?) she was saying that she didn’t want to get into a long-distance relationship … evidently he already thinks they are in one. I think Lynn is setting up a confrontation between helicopter-guy and police-guy, as others mentioned, but I don’t think police guy will turn out to be evil. (hope not, anyway)

Uclick, or more precisely Ucomics.com carries that, and many others that Comics.com doesn’t (I subscribe to both.)

Yeah, and his last name is “Wright”.

Not necessarily.
