Gene Simmons speaks up against muslims
Why oh why?
He does have the right to voice his opinion though, but it's just ridiculous. Outrage as KISS player mouths off on Muslims Among the tidbits: "This is a vile culture and if you think for a second that it's willing to just live in the sands of God's armpit you've got another thing coming," says he. "The Israeli-born US musician went on to say Islam was a "vile culture" that treated women worse than dogs." |

He can say whatever he wants, and Gene - although I have an undying respect for his immense knowledge of world affairs - has chosen to make some comments that make him sound like a douche.
Who'd have thought a guy famous for having a giant tongue would be able to stick his foot in his mouth?

Yeah, I'd say that considering that no one is paying Gene Simmons for his skill at diplomacy, his tremendous sensitivity, or his knowledge of world events, international affairs, or politics...
...that this is of no importance whatsoever, no?

It's not really surprising, considering he was born in Israel, and is Jewish. I imagine he's had those sentiments some time.

Gotta love pop culture, mainly because so much of the pontificating is so damned silly. These people live in (for?) the limelight so you'd think they'd be slightly savvier. Unless they're drunk on their own fame, I guess. Celebrities are citizens so they're entitled to opinions but I'll never understand why journalism grants them any extra coverage outside their area of fame. On second thought, I do understand. The aim is make bucks, not inform, so the journalists and celebrities whore each other. News at 10! Brad Pitt on stem cell research, Cameron Diaz on economic recovery and Whatsername Garofolo on UN Treaties. A person couldn't make up this shit. |

Just read an interveiw with Nikki Sixx, who says his 3 year old daughter is much smarter than the strippers he's known. These guys have such a low opinion of women. Of course, it different from Muslim's. |

regardless of how pathetic an influence Gene Simmons might have, he is still a douchebag for what he said.

Quote:
About dogs in Muslim societies. The clown-painted "musician" seems to have a lot to say about something he has quite obviously not even one clue about. I do hope for his fans that he has more clues about the notes he is supposed to reproduce. 1. I would not like to feed and shelter the countrless Muslims on this globe who believe that a dog is unclean. 2. Hence those countless Muslims wont even let a dog enter their house. 3. Countless Muslims even go as far as to cross the street when a dog appears, for avoiding to come even close to a dog. 4. Hence those countless Muslims certainly don't feel much for doing with dogs what the painted clown gives as such a good contrast to what women receive from those countrless Muslims. So far for this genial observation of the clown-musician. Now his truly exceptional case study on women walking half a step behind a man. Yes, it can be seen on daily-life streets at some daily-life locations. I never asked myself as to why that is. Now that you come to ask about it, I can with my fast functioning one-cell brain imagine some reasons: 1. Taliban Lunatic locations. We all know how women are seen there. 2. Culture intertwined with Islamic teachings in typical patriarchal orientated societies. The man must not only provide for everything his household needs. He is also responsible for everything regarding safety and protection. Women sees her husband, brother, father, other male relative in that light. The men are considered to "take the heat" in crowded streets. I don't think there is much "oppression" involved in that. It is a cultural infested habit. Can of course come across as the opposite in Western eyes. Now that I come to think of it: I never saw one women in my family taking half a step backwards when I show up. They also usually are out of the door first. I also tend to loose them when we go shopping (only one for example where I am supposed to follow them) and must then wait until they choose to show up again. Loaded with things I didn't tell them to buy. I must be a Very Bad Muslim. It can also be of course that I don't provoke much respect.... This thought is a torture... Sure is going to keep me awake tonight. Salaam. A Off now to the task of the daily beatings.. Already sweating, although I only watch it be done. Or what do you think. |

Just a guess, but I figure that the people who are ranting against Gene Simmons' comments are the same folk who thought Marlyn Manson was so clever and intellectual in the movie Bowling for Columbine. So, everyone has the right to their opinion, and I'd say Gene Simmons has a few accurate comments in there, mabye not so eloquently put however. 99% of the terrorist are lslamic extremists and women clearly don't have the same rights as men in that part of the world. Interesting that they had to get a quote from the Australian muslim of the year, who by the way grew up in Australia . Of course she doesn't "walk behind her husband" - I think Gene was referring to Muslim women in the Middle East. Oh, the outrage! Sheesh.

From this: as-šarq al-'awsat is a London based Arab daily.
In Arabic, North Africa and the Middle East+Egypt are respectively referred to as "al-maghrib" and "al-mashriq", the West and East. mashriq ~ east-land (ma- "place of" + sharq "east") maghrib ~ west-land (ma- + gharb "west") Ironically, many Middle Eastern languages have now borrowed the term "Middle East" from Europe; thus Arabic calls it as sharq al-awsat (name of a major paper; sharq = east, al-awsat= the-middle) and Persian as khaavar-e miane. Gosh, I can't imagine why you haven't heard of him. If KISS can't transcend cultural and language barriers, I can't imagine who could. And, for the record, you'd BETTER have your women under your thumb should Simmons be around, because he bragged in an interview (link above) that if he walked into a room, your wife WOULD want to go home with him.
