The "HIDDEN" Thread! UNEXPOSED!

Ok, it’s been a few minutes since I put my membership on the line, time to risk wrath again.

There is a thread that is evidently hidden from the eyes of the great unwashed (you and me), and y’all know that hiding somethiong makes it more seductive (Cecil’s rule # 487). So here we are seething.

It first came out in the Religion Poll - a great poll started by Czarcasm that is still open.

Trying to access this thread, you get a (politely) locked door.

Right. None of the above.

The thread itself is right inbetween
Is chirac a criminal” and
Please help identify this film” - so, what IS IT???

OK. Is it private? Should we MYOB? Inappropriate? perhaps ‘not ask?’ Politically Incorrect? (Then maybe we should know the parameters?) Or is it just “Inside Information” that DoperMods, The Big “C” and God herself only should access???

This is one of those things that we neurotic “Seekers of Truth and Enemies of Ignorance” just can’t ignore.

Jeez, at LEAST tell us to forget it, if it will never be revealed! This silence makes us think of new terrorist conspiracies!

Only half serious, but fully fascinated.

There is at least one forum (and possibly others) that is(are) accessible only to the mods and admins, where they move objectionable threads, rather than deleting them outright.

You know we have to ask- what’s in this(those) forum(s)?

Everyone who submitted comments to that thread have been missing for several days now.

I know because I was printing it out and

I can read that thread fine on my system. It’s all about Cecil’s “sexy parties”, and how the mods

Most likely, it was a thread started by a troll. They usually get deleted when the offender is smitten.

Must be something in your profile or your history. I can access the links with no problems and IANAMod.

But then, apparently unlike you, I’m clean. No bugs on me.

You know, I think I was subscribed to that thread…

Hold on, someone’s knocking at the door…

Well then, if this is so, what is the thread about??? :dubious:
Or are you just pumping hot air?

To quell the rampant speculation and fevered imaginings that always seem to surface when this question comes up, I will answer.

You know those Make Money Fast and Eternal Life Ring spam posts we sometimes get? We move that sort of thing into the mod forum. We try to move troll posts and threads into that forum, too, if we can do it without ruining continuity. We also document stuff like poster name changes, warnings, and people we’ve banned, along with their IP addresses. A typical entry in this forum would be “Warned {poster} about {offense} in this thread (with a link provided).” It’s usually a very boring forum. The GOOD stuff is in the modmail.

WIIIIITCH!

Not that we don’t trust you Lynn, what with the wrath an’ all, but that just seems a little too convenient for my likings. Yup, I’m gonna stick with the old conspiracy theories myself.

::puts on tinfoil hat::

Wait a minute, you didn’t even tell us what was in that thread. It must be the Illumin-

Ya know, it’s not even the main joke that does it. It’s stuff like this…

…that makes me think “Ah, tick. Gotta love 'em.”

What’s the advantage of moving them to a non-public forum versus simply deleting them outright?

Uh, candygram…

Candygram!

To Hal: Awwwwww, shucks :o

Because you may have already won $1,000,000. Duh. :stuck_out_tongue:

As an ex-mod on a few other boards, I can say that we used to keep questionable posts/threads/folders hidden rather than deleted for documentation and reference purposes, and also if we changed our minds and decided to allow the p/t/f. Easier to unhide it than make the person start from scratch.

Makes sense. Thanks.

What I don’t get is why everyone posting suddenly sto

So that’s what happened to that little gem entitled woman, (or women?) that was in MPSIMS a few days ago.

I thought they just took my advice to heart and ran far, far away.
