I am insane

And I can prove it, too.

I have officially signed up for Nanowrimo

a contest where writers from all over the world gather, signing up singly and in groups…

…to write a 50,000 word novel. IN ONE MONTH.

And yes, I am doing this alone.
I’ve clearly lost it. But it’s going to be so much fun to do!

Point is, is it gonna be any good? :stuck_out_tongue: Have you got any work we can see?

I certainly hope so!

All I’ve got right now are rough notes–I’m still spinning out the idea. I’ll get back to you, though…

Well, I just signed up. Kind of scary!

It’s obvious you’re still new here. Most of us would have thought, “Geez, that sure would cut into my posting time!”

Good luck. Any ideas on themes?

You could write about the boy who stuttered a lot.

“Can y y you h h h help m m m me?”

You’ll triple your word count in no time.

Wow! That is huge. Sending supporting thoughts your way. Good luck and have fun!

Yay! Good luck, woman! And, let us know when and where we can read it.

luluBahrain: We’re gonna make it, kid, hang on!

Shibb: I’m a good multitasker… I think, right now, it’s a cross between fantasy and historical fiction, throwing in gypsies, magic spells, witches, and good ol’ fashioned intrigue. Who knows where it’ll go, though?

Keapon: You know, that might not be such a bad idea…

Khadaji, Maureen: Thank you both so much! grateful

Have him partner with a girl with DID, a talking dog and someone addicted to rap music and you’ll have 50K words in a week.

[sub]I’d do it but I do NOT have the time.[/sub]

Wow, thanks for reminding me! I signed up last year but school didn’t allow me the time (I don’t write, anyway). I will have more time to write this year… so I say why not!

Hey, cool! I’m always looking for things to distract me from classes, so I just signed up. That is the hard part, right?

I can’t believe I just signed up for that. Especially since I haven’t written a story in about 15 years. I’m really going to try though.

My brother tried this last year, but he got sent off to basic suddenly mid-month (an opening came up) and couldn’t finish. I’ll have to ask him if he’s doing it again this year.

I’ve just jumped on the bandwagon too! I once sat down and wrote about 20,000 words in 2 weeks for no particular reason - but then I read it and realised it was craptacular so I gave up… but this is just the kind of motivation I need - the emphasis is on quantity not quality!

PS Excellent thread title - ‘I am insane’ is guaranteed to make me look in…

Why the hell not?

It’s not like I’m busy or anything…

Sleep is for the weak, I’m in.

WHY did you have to tell us about it? Now I’ll be thinking about entering and either a) not finish if I do enter or b) regret not entering until next year. Thanks.

Good luck though.

You’re not insane.

I’m going to sign up, too.

I had a friend who did it a few years ago and had a blast.

May I read it when it is complete?

iampunha: This is an interesting idea you have…

Kerrigan, akennett, pokey, xenonymous, picker, FilmGeek: Good luck! wishes on stars, finds four-leaf clovers and horseshoes, crosses fingers and holds breath

(FilmGeek: Whew, good to know! ;))

whiterabbit: Tell your brother good luck from me if he does!

Khadaji: Of course! (It’s going to be utter crud, but sure… :P)

Nightwatch Trailer: You can still sign up… I bet a novel by you would be brilliant.
