NaNoWriMo 2008

November is two weeks away. Time to write a 30 day, 50,000 word novel.

Who is in this year?

I’m excited. I have high hopes for this year’s book.

I’m in. Same name there as here.

Having put it off for the entire year - I’m scrapping the nano '07 draft totally and rewriting from scratch. Short of taking off into orbit and nuking last year’s effort - it’s the only way to be sure.

I’ll certainly think hard about it. I did the last two years successfully.

I’m in…I’m a 5 or 6 time participant…a one time winner (came close-ish last year, though).

Not sure what I’m going to do…I have two ideas…I have no idea which I’m going to do.

I’m in. I don’t know yet what I’m writing. I don’t know if I’ll have the time to write the full 50,000 but I’m sure I can beat last year’s abysmal word count of roughly 3000. :o:D

I’m in. This is my first NaNo, second novel (first novel is under consideration at a lit agency, wish me luck). It took me almost 2 years to write my first one, so 30 days will be a major improvement. I’ve been planning for a week–am going to have a real outline and a real plot plan this time. Should be easier to write this way.

I’m in - it’ll be my eighth time (going for my eighth win). I did it while working on my senior thesis last year, so doing it while sitting around at home unemployed should be no problem, except that my time management skills have gone entirely to hell. We’ll see.

Also, question: What are they collecting donations for? Does the money go to some charity? It isn’t in the FAQ.

Thislink could be more helpful, the different donation sizes and what they pay for.

I’m in. I figure I have a lot of things to say and a loose plot, so why the hell not?

If anyone wants to send me anything for editing and I’ll do the same, I’m open for that.

To keep going. In previous years, they had partnered with charitable organizations and used donations for other purposes. But apparently last year was bad financially. cite

I’d like to, but I’m not going to have time this year. I was on vacation last year and did a lot of it at that time. Now with two little ones I don’t have the time. I did however accidentally sign up. I was getting emails from last year’s group and I didn’t want them, but when you sign in you sign up.

Just means your account is there for next year.

I’m in. I did it the previous two years, and only won the first time. shrugs We’ll see how it goes this time around. I got everything I need, I just need to make sure the muse doesn’t go on holiday in two weeks. And I can hang on to my plot.

I’m in, and I have no idea why. It sounds like fun and gives me a goal to work for. Don’t expect any literary classics out of me, though; I haven’t written anything more complex than a grocery list in a decade.

I think I’m in again this year. Participated the last three years, won the last two. I’ve got to the point where I can’t stand reading fiction, but the NaNoWriMo experience transcends what I find so off-putting about fiction. And after all, I don’t actually have to read what I write.

Debating. The last two years went…well, actually, they didn’t. And with WotLK coming out mid-month, I can’t see any attempt this year going much better. It’ll probably take me a week just to catch up on my sleep following that.

I’m in.

Not too bothered if I don’t make the full 50,000 though - last year I only did 35,000 but it kickstarted me and I published a novel in Feb that had been sitting about for a while. I’m hopeful for this one though, if I go at my usual pace (around 1000 words/day), I should have a rough mss by Christmas.

Good luck all; looking forward to hearing how all your novels turn out.

I’m still trying to actually finish my 2004 entry…I completed it at 50,000 and some change, but it wasn’t finished if you know what I mean (and I didn’t do NaNoEdMo, cause you need inspiration to work quickly and editing isn’t really inspiring.)

At least it clocks in at more than 70K so when I submit it to a publisher it won’t look like a NaNo.

I’m in! I won last year–let’s go for two!

Now all I need is an idea…

I quit my dead end, brain dead job. It was only 15 hours a week. We are really broke and winter is upon us. What a better time to pen that Masterpiece!!!1111!!! Tolstoy, look out!
I’m doing November Is National Writing Month this year.

Starting November 1. 30 Days of Coffee Fueled run on sentances.
