Prompted by the question of whether or not cell phone users are making polls innacurate.
This isn’t intended to start debate, just a straight-up poll. We already know the SDMB members (and internet poll-takers in general to a lesser degree) are left-leaning, and I wonder how many of us are pretty much wireless these days.
Yes. I do have a land line, but it’s only used for internet access and international calls, I don’t take calls on it. I’ve been doing this for a year and a half, and I don’t miss the telemarketers one bit.
I’ll note that I don’t think any of the people I know who graduated with me last year botherd to get landlines while I’ve never known anyone older then 30 to not have a landline, so I think that the group of people who rely only on cell phones are overwelmingly under 30. Allegorical evidence of course, but still several dozen people at least for which I can’t think of any exceptions.
Perhaps folks could submit thier ages as well to see if this holds true.
I should add that technically I do actually have a land line at the moment. A phone comes with my dorm room here. Although, I don’t actually know the phone number to it, and never give it out except to my family who has the number. I do use it for internal calls though.
At home, my family hasn’t had a land line for maybe 7 years now. So, that would be at least 2 people over 30 who are exclusive cell phone users. Although, largely I’m inclined to agree with Malodorous’ theory about ages.
I use my cell phone exclusively, which helps save money on a line I wouldn’t use anyway. I am also planning to vote and in a state which, from what I have seen, is more swing than it used to be (Virginia), though I’m still fairly certain it will go to Bush.
