Jewish curse on "All in the Family".

Does anybody remember that episode of “All in the Family” where Archie Bunker was going to be on the news, but his television set went out. The repairman turned out to be Jewish and refused to fix the set because the Sabbath was starting soon. Archie made a rude comment about Jews & money.
The repair man said something in either Hebrew or Yiddish (I forget which). Arch asks what it means and the repair man says "you’ll never know, but believe me, I got even".

So? Does anyone know what it was he said?

This thread is better suited for Cafe Society. I’ll move it for you.

Cajun Man
for the SDMB

I don’t know the answer, but if anyone has any resources, the episode in question is The Man in the Street

Archie wants to get his TV fixed so that he can see himself on the news that night.

Someone on the “All in the Family Forum” sez: "…the old Yiddish proverb that Levy [the TV guy] quotes is translated: ‘May you have a hotel with one thousand rooms, and a stomach in each one.’ "

Now… can someone explains what that means?

 WTF does that mean?

I think the curse would be having to feed all those people.

That makes much more sense than wishing 999 extra stomachs on him, I guess.

I’m blowing the tanks on this thread because this ep is on tonight on TVLand. If you are or know a Yiddish expert, here’s the chance to confirm it. I’ll be taping it just in case no one catches it.
