Recast Your Favourite Old Movie

They’re going to remake on of your favourite old movie (even if you don’t want them to)… BUT you get to cast it. Price is no object, but the actors have to be currently alive, and will appear as they do today (i.e. no “young Clint Eastwood’s”).

Arsenic and Old Lace

Mortimer Brewster - Ewan McGregor (was Cary Grant)
Aunt Abby Brewster - Barbara Billingsley (was Josephine Hull)
Aunt Martha Brewster - Dina Shore (was Jean Adair)
Jonathan Brewster - Ron Perlman (was Raymond Massey)
Dr. Einstein - Steve Buscemi (was Peter Lorre)
Elaine Harper/Elaine Brewster - Reese Witherspoon (was Priscilla Lane)
Teddy/Dicky Brewster - Norm MacDonald (was John Alexander)

An executive decision had to be made about a couple of aspects…
Mortimer’s brother, Theodore has become Richard and his obsession with Teddy Rooseveldt has been updated to an obsession with Richard Nixon.
Jonathan Brewster now flies into a homicidal rage when told he looks like Ron Perlman.

I like this, tho if I were gonna mess with things- I’d have Jeremy Irons as Jonathan (maybe keeping the Karloff reference, maybe changing it to Irons).
And maybe Dan Ackroyd as Bobby (Dole) Brewster. G

Darrell Hammond as Billy Brewster? L
Except he’d keep hitting of Elaine.
