Sequential Theater Marquees

So, last Saturday, SolGrundy and I were walking past a movie theater, and decided to see what was playing. There were five movies there: Are We There Yet, Hide & Seek, Boogeyman, Coach Carter, and Meet the Fockers. The marquee over the box office wasn’t quite big enough to display the full titles, though. On the right, they said:

Coach Cart
Fockers

Which will someday be the name of my ska band, if I ever decide to start a ska band. Even better, though was the left side of the marquee:

Are We The
Boogeyman
Hide and See

Which was genius.

Anyway, felt that needed to be shared.

Hey, did you know Erin Brockovich Screwed My Dog Skip?

Talking Heads
with
Simple Minds

I saw a photo (coulda been doctored, who knows) of a marquee that said:

Spy Kids
Blow
Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles

I remembered another one from some years ago, at a theater that was looking for new employees. The marquee said,

Mission to Mars

Underneath was a banner that said,

“Now hiring!”

NASA’s really cut back on the standards for the astronaut program, I guess.

Spotted…jeesh. Nearly 20 years ago, judging by IMDB:

Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Where the Boys Are

Another one from long ago:

Blazing Saddles
Where Does it Hurt?

**Pepper Mill[/B says she saw this one:

Hannah and Her Sisters
Extremities

I’ve seen these in photos, and I suspect he theater owners did them on purpose:

**Alien
Meatballs
Escape from New York

The Howling
101 Dalmations
101 Dalmations
Dying Young**

Another “on purpose” one (because they obviously slammed two titles together):

Dennis the Menace to Society

We had Boyz in the Hood and Robin Hood playing on both screens of our theater once, but we couldn’t convince the boss to put up Boyz in the Robin Hood

From the “similarly themed” category:

Blink
8 Seconds
Short Cuts

My sister, who is usually reliable, swears that a few years back she saw the following advertised outside a theatre:

The Firm
Free Willy

Long time ago, on a marquee across the street from a barber shop:

*The Bad and the Beautiful

Just Across the Street*

The barbers complained (in jest) to the local press about their slandered reputations.
Snatch
Blow
Pecker
