Veronica Mars - steadily getting better. (spoilers aired shows)

At first sight, it was just another teen show. The outsider, the rich kids, the kids from the wrong side of the track, the token black guy.
Then there was the murder mystery, where Lily Kane replaced Laura Palmer. Semi interesting, but not revolutionary. The interaction father daughter was ok, the dialogue witty, but the undercover P.I. in high school really stretched my suspension of disbelief. Not to breaking point, but certainly to a tense state.

But the last few shows have shown a lot of promise, and I can't help but compare to BtVS and its first season. This is better. Way much better. And the reason is that the characters are getting more and more fleshed out. The überjerk, Logan, suddenly is starting to show human qualities and depth. The token black guy seems to be more than just token. Our high school P.I. is getting the rich antagonist kids off the hook.

I like when characters are not two dimensional. Evil guys shouldn't be just evil, without a reason, the dad is neither infallible or a grown up jerk, nor the best buddy of the main character ( as in Gilmour Girls), because parents and their kids aren't best buddies. He's a dad.

It's not there yet. And I doubt the murder mystery will be able to hold our interest. And some of the crime stories or cases that Veronica solves are too cheesy. But I'm prepared to forgive that since the writers are actually trying to build and show believable, 3d characters and given time, this just might be a very good little show, albeit not great and life altering. Right now, it's a nice way to spend an hour on a grey and cold Feb night.

Thought this was about a new poster named Veronica Mars and The Gaspode's opinion on her. Ah, well.

I really like the show, though I was annoyed when Veronica destroyed the DNA report. I simply hate when a show drags something like that out (they did it on Lost, too. Grr).

I didn't want to watch this show, but my husband has a thing for cute young blondes, and I watched the first episode with him out of camaraderie and the desire not to seem like a poor sport.

Much to my surprise, I really like "Veronica Mars." I am about forty years older than the target audience, but I watch this show every week and recommend it to everyone I know.

This is far and away the classiest series on UPN.
