Not that anyone will probably care, but several dopers gave me advice in this thread last year, and, after surviving floods and the IRS, I bought one.
Thanks to all who offered advice and opinions.

… aaaand?
What is it? Pics? Have you dropped it yet? Regrets? Has your wife or girlfriend left you yet? Has it got you any sex? How long have you had it? Have you taken it for a decent ride or just round the block? How much after-market carbon fibre crap are you planning on loading it up with? Track days planned?
Come on, details please.
So what did you get?
Alright *Fireman, if you want to be a biker the first rule is you have to brag about what you got.

Well…we’re waiting.
//Safety lecture//
Full face helmet, gloves, boots, long pants, jacket with armor in the elbows and shoulders.
Every time you ride, even 2 minutes to the store and back. You may not fall down but the little old blue haired lady looking through the steering wheel of her Town Car may want to turn into that garage sale RIGHT NOW!
//safety lecture off//
So what is it? what is it?
Very good What is it?
Whatever you got, ride safe, have fun, and wear your gear. if you are not an AMA member, you should consider joining. I’d be happy to give you more info on that.

Cool!
Wanna race?!!!
Ok, sorry to leave you in suspense…I got the Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic. Now, before anyone says this is a girl bike, remember that it has been more than 20 years since I’ve rode anything more than a bicycle. It has lots of power, and it fits me. Later on, I can trade up.
No pictures yet, but if you go to Kawasaki and select the Vulcan 800 Classic (it’s red) and imagine it with a small windshield and a backrest, thats it.
Haven’t dropped it (yet), wife loves it, a few comments but no offers of a ride for a ride (yet).
I wear my full gear, but I need to buy some leathers. I am signing up for the safety class.
I love it!! I should have bought years ago. And, I would like more info on the AMA.
Hey, that’s what I just bought! Except mine doesn’t have the backrest or windshield (though it does have the mount for the windshield). But it’s comfortable and it’s got plenty of power for me. Now I’m just waiting for the weather.
The Vulcan is a nice choice. I’m a sportbike guy at heart, but I fell in love with a Suzuki Volusia (805 cc…now called the Boulevard C50) a couple of years ago, and it’s more than adequate. Kept the 1200 cc sportbike, though…
Take the MSF course. I’ve ridden, literally, all my life…Mom was pregnant with me and riding on the back of Dad’s Harley…and I learned stuff in the MSF course that I never “knew”. Plus, it was fun and you get to meet some potential riding buddies.
I’m not much of a “joiner”, but I did join the AMA. It’s worth it just for the representation and the vendor discounts. You might also look into ABATE, if you’re interested in the more political aspects of the sport. They’re more than just pro-helmet-choice (although I’m not a member).
Keep the shiny side up and remember…dress for the crash, not for the ride.
Sweet ride Here is all of the info on the AMA and the MOTOW program:
AMA
MOTOW and the Helping Hands Network
Both of these are well worth it, IMO.
