RIP John the Fish

As I was leaving for work last night, I noticed John the Betta Fish floating on his side at the top of the bowl. I poked him a few times but he didn't move.

Farewell, John! As we flush you along on your final journey, we will take time to reflect on your beauty, your graceful way of swimming, your frantic attempts to attack the betta in the bowl next to yours. Many times have we held a mirror up to your bowl just to watch you flare out and bonk your nose on the glass. Many times have I listened to you come to the top of the water and make "purping" noises when you were hungry. Three years is too short a time to live with so fine a fish.
