Yay Mancow!!
In a stunning event of synergy I come to the Dope today and see an ad on the front page for "Mancows Morning Madhouse". Why is this so amazing? Well you see I just finished a year as the local producer for that very show. Not only that but on my webpage for the station I work at I have the Dope listed as one of my favorite websites. Stunning! Killer! Alas I have moved to nights and my own show so I don't get to hear much of the Cow anymore, but let me say as a radio pro that Mancow Muller is truly one of the most talented guys on any airwaves. His show is fast paced, thought provoking and at times funny as hell.
Its great to see two of my favorite institutions come together at once. Way to go Cow for advertising here! Its a "phenomenom"...doo doo da do do

Absolutely. In many markets all across the country, including the recently added LA. We've had him here in Knoxvegas for several years.

Mancow is a schmuck.
Opie & Anthony - The Virus is Spreading. (Disclaimer: I've only tried to listen to Mancow twice, but both times I couldn't stand it. O&A, on the other hand, are rapidly becoming a morning ritual. And they were getting shots in at Mancow the other day.) |

I like my radio politics free. The fact that I loathe Mancow's dogmas makes it especially repellant. It's a shame, because generally speaking the guy can be pretty funny. His "shock" humor is more mean spirited than Howard Stern, which is unfortunate, but you can tell that he's creative and can be interesting to listen to.
He's a guy that would probably benefit from being reeled in some and having some boundaries set regarding the political hot buttons. The risque sex stuff I don't have a problem with, but activism doesn't make for entertaining radio regadless of your position. |

No offense, but Mancow was never my bag. I spent four years in K-town and never, ever, ever could get used to his style in the morning. It was too abrasive. What some may term "fast-paced" I would term "random as hell." It seemed like completely disconnected segments with loud music in between.
I didn't disagree with everything he said but he was waaaaaay too Republican and nasty for my taste, just like Bob & Tom can be waaaaaay too Lib. He treated people who disagreed with him (and granted, most of them were yokels and assorted mental midgets) in the manner of O'Reilly: talk over them (or yell, whatever it takes) and cut them off. Of course, this is the opinion of the guy who worked at the Torch in absolute obscurity for two years before Big Benny came along and changed the whole deal. I tried to spice it up, but alas. 'Twas not to be. In other words, I must disagree. Boo Mancow. He ain't funny. |

BTW, I assume you're working for 94.3. What's your shift?
And, if I may, if you see Russ Torbett, tell him Dan the Man says hi. |

When I first moved to Chicago and was looking for good radio stations, I stumbled across his show. Not my idea of entertaining. Also, a billboard advertising his show included a gigantic picture of Michael Jackson for awhile. No one deserves that. |

Still a pale Howard Stern imitation, though. |

Thanks to owning XM Radio and being able to listen to it at work, I'll have to say I caught the Opie & Anthony 'virus' about two months ago and have been enjoying the show every day. Very light in politics, very steep in humor, especially thanks to Jim Norton (happy birthday to him by the way).
To me, the Pat Battle has been won and I could never turn back to Howard Stern who I once really enjoyed, but jumped the shark when he and Alison split up. |

Currently I'm doing nights on the station. I'll tell Russ you said hello. Weird. Small message board and all. |

To be fair, the last time I listed to them for any length of time was YEARS ago. Somehow, from what I've read here, I don't think they've changed much. |
