I just did a search for a very common word, and only got 750 results.
Why are results limited in this way?
At one time there was no limit, but I gather searches were hogging board resources, slowing the entire board down. Thus the limit.
The current limit was actually an increase made earlier this year from the previous limit - 500, IIRC.
The fact that searches are limited to 750 posts also means that it’s very hard to find the original posts of prolific users. This makes it difficult to check how our most respected posters (including mods and admins) were when they were newbies. It’s too bad, but, meh…
Restrict your searches to old posts.
The best I can do is “find posts from a year ago and older”. Is there something I missed?
That had me puzzled too, but someone came up with this solution: on the search page, select sort results by posting date/ascending.
