Harassment? Group Protective Action?

Over Here is a link that is going around the internet like wildfire. It is discussion forum on an American 4x4 site.

A fellow sold another fellow a set of “bran new” (yes, California public schools, how did you know?) gears of some sort. They were used. Further, the seller jacked up the price.

The members of the board went nuts. Or they formed a protective wall around their defrauded buddy. About Page Ten they began to post ‘private’ information. (Hey, Charlie, how’s the Audi running?) and then it went on from there. By Page 24 they were posting overhead images of the guy’s home and his yearbook pictures.

Frankly, I am only up to Page 27 so far. I hope nothing really, really bad happens, but reading it is addictive. I hope you enjoy it. Perhaps it will provoke a discussion of the morality of all this.

Well, now they have his yearbook photos, his boss’s phone number (and photo), his baby photos (somehow).

The odd part is the guy pops up now and again and taunts everyone into new efforts to ‘get’ him. I have few people skills, he has fewer.

By Page 52 they have posted photos of his dad’s airplane, the seller has tried to apologize, but managed to mess that up too, irritating more people. The thread at this point is less interesting, with little new information, but you can see an ugly mob beginning to form.

They seem to be selling t-shirts with the fellow’s photo on it.

Yep, this could be very ugly.

We prefer to keep SDMB business on the SDMB, and other boards’ business on their board.
