Which message board(s) would you frequent as an alternative?
Probably Something Awful. There seems to be a lot of assholes on those boards, though.
deviantART. Or maybe I’ll, you know, do something productive at last.
I can always go back to Black Voices. But I’m like Huey Freeman to everyone else’s Riley over there.
Most likely NADs, a wee place called Kiwi Clan on the ezboard system, Snopes’ board and some local NZ ones. Be a shame if the SDMB was no more, though. Got special feelings for this place. I’d grieve.
I forgot to add the Unaboard to that list. Good folk, there.
If there were no more Straight Dope, I would use the internet for nothing more than porn and e-mail.
I guess that I would once more be 100% on the FlyerTalk bulletin board.
I’d have to go back to doing whatever it was I did on the internet before I found the Straight Dope. I don’t remember what that was, though. I’d never seen a message board before this one. I’m not sure I could muster up the same level of emotional investment in another online community.
I like Salon Table Talk.
I’d be on Readerville, same as always.
Moron!
Er… I mean Norom.
Yeah, I’d never been part of a message board before this one. I can’t remember what I did on the internet before this either. Work would become a lot more… well, like work.
I’d probably use the SDMB group on Myspace as a group of survivors to restart a new messageboard in the image of the SDMB, much like the pilgrims leaving for the new world. Except the old world would be no more.
I got a Something Awful account a few weeks ago, so I’ve been spending more time over there while getting used to the atmosphere. It’s nice to have the SDMB as a counterbalance to Goons’ insanity, though, and I’d probably spend less time on message boards in general if the SDMB disappeared.
I like the look of metafilter.
Me too. I don’t post there, but I probably read it more than I do the dope these days.
Just LiveJournal.
Linkey?
