It’s very simple. We go in alphabetical order. Each poster names a band whose name begins with the next letter of the alphabet. (When we reach ‘Z’ we simply start over with ‘A’, but of course we cannot repeat band names.
Just a few ground rules:
- “the” does not count, so a band such as “the Internet-users” would go under the letter “I”.
- solo acts don’t count as band names, but bands named after a single person can (thus “the Melvin Herkimer Five” would count as a band name)
- In such cases where the band is named after a person, it gets alphabetized under the surname so long as it’s part of the official bandname. Thus, “the Albert Einsteins” would go under “E”, but “Frodo & the Ringbearers” would go under “F”.
- REAL band names only (except for the purposes of illustrating the ground rules ;)). No “B Sharps” or “Josie & the Pussycats.”
- The bands can be from any genre, any musical style, and any era, but stick with names of bands who have at least some level of fame. No “I was in a band in college 20 years ago and we played one gig in the local bar” type posts. Use your judgement, but stick to bands that at least some other posters would know.
