Jekyll Island Inspire

Inspired by a recent thread on the uselessness of tourist center employees, I decided to ask here about my trip this weekend. I'm heading to Jekyll Island in GA next weekend. I've been there before for the same event, but I haven't seen much of the place. We won't have that much time for sightseeing, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what is worth visiting on and around the island. Last time we were there we had an especially bad experience at the island's Bennigan's so we're especially interested in finding good but affordable eateries on the island.

Uhm... Helped run a 'pirate weekend' there in 93... But that's not gonna help you much... I got to beat people up and get run through by my own captain, though! ("You killed my right hand man!" "M'lord, I'm not quite-" *STAB* "Ahem, you KILLED my right hand man!")
My great uncle lives out there, too, but I don't think he'd be the type to offer a complete stranger pancakes. Still, I'll try to give him a call, see what's what.

Eating out at Jekyll Island is a major problem. Very few places and several of those are poor quality. It goes with being a limited development island. Going off-island is also a problem. Brunswick is good drive away, there's nothing there and then you have to pay the parking fee to get back on the island.

If you're driving, pack a lot of food and eat in your room as much as you can.
