Hi, I'm Brian Schweitzer, Governor of Montana

I work at the Wenatchee Convention Center in Wenatchee, WA. Last night we were hosting some kind of fundraising banquet for Senator Maria Cantwell (D) and some other Democratic candidates.

So we’re dishing up the meal, when this guy walks into the kitchen and slaps me on the shoulder and says, “Hi, I’m Brian Schweitzer, Governor of Montana!” He proceeded to introduce himself to, and shake hands with everybody, telling us how much he appreciate all the work we’re doing. He wanted to see what we were serving, and wanted to see what was for dessert. Quite an affable gentleman!

Now, I’m really not sure why the Governor of Montana was here, but I was kind of impressed that he took the time to come back and express his appreciation - especially considering that we’re not even his constituents. None of our own Washington elected officials bothered to do that!

How do you Montana Dopers like this guy?

How odd… they look like a…umm… couple

As a former resident, all I can say is he is a refreshing breeze compared to the former governor Judy Martz. She was so bad, I felt sorry for her.

When I was living up in Great Falls this past year, they had this radio commercial touting the tourism opportunities of Montana. Basically, you could call/write in for a Montana Welcome package, or call/write in someone else’s address and they’d mail it to your cousin/brother/mom/dad/dog/son/daughter/&ca.

One of the points of the commercial is that they ‘tried to send Schweitzer’ to every house to personally deliver the welcome kit. Well of course everyone in the country wants to come to Montana, so you hear an exasperated Schweitzer knocking on many many houses. . . with a lot more to go.

It was a cute commercial–except they played it every fckin hour!* I got so sick of it! It was annoying, to say the least. Not nearly as annoying as that little “Zoom-Zoom” kid on the Toyota/Mazda/Whatever car commercials (who I’d like to beat with a stick), but it was up there.
