Hot Fuzz

I’ve just watched the trailer for Hot Fuzz. It’s the same bunch that made Sean of the Dead. It looks as if it’s going to be a real hoot. Loads of cameos too.

I agree, it has potential. I was only mediocre on Shawn of the Dead. But I’ll give this one a try.

Stephen Merchant, yay!

Loved Shawn of the Dead. I’m trying to get into* Spaced* whenever I see it. I’m looking forward to it. When is the US release date?

Saw it yesterday, I’ve been very excited about this film.

It’s even better than I thought it would be, and the consensus between my friends is that it surpasses shawn of the dead. It’s hilarious and got more action than bad boys 2 or point break (watch the film).

Timothy Dalton is excellent, he was my favourite Bond (unpopular choice), and he’s perfect as the sinister villain. Gets an awesome finale, too.

Watch it, guys.

I just want to be the first person in this thread to spell Shaun of the Dead correctly

Is it our fault that they misspelled Sean?

I saw this last week. I liked a lot of it, especially the parts where they use some visual effect and bleach out the film slightly to simulate 70s/80s production values (like in those old Children’s Film Foundation films).

The downside to me was that a fair bit of the humour was reliant on West Country yokel stereotypes - having lived with those accents for a few years I’m a bit immune.

I hope this film does get a good reception in Usa, as it is pretty spot on with small town English awfulness, and is pretty funny too.

I preferred Shaun of the Dead though…

Awesome. I cheered when I saw the trailer this weekend. Can’t wait until it comes out–I loved Shaun of the Dead.

I don’t even know if is going to be released here in theaters. I have not seen any commercials for it. It would surprise me if it didn’t Shaun was popular enough for it to at least make a profit I would think.

By the way, the lead actor (whose name escapes me) was the Star In The Reasonably Priced Car on Top Gear this week. Did pretty well.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure it is. I saw the trailer before Ghostrider this weekend.

Cool. I don’t get to go to the movies much anymore but this one would make me get a babysitter. Mrs Loach like *Shaun of the Dead * too. Probably have to get Grandma to do it since my son is going to want to come too.

Ooh, 'ello me babber! Fellow Brizzle-dweller here. I didn’t think there were many West Country specifics in the movie, which I thought it was hilarious. Much, much better than Shaun (and I love Shaun). The swear box, the editing and sound effects, the swan, and Eee Waa Woo Waa. Can’t go wrong. And the guy who eats a fly in Raiders of the Lost Ark, looking all old and scary! Funniest lame special effect ever (Adam Buxton). The cornetto wrapper. I thought it was all genius.

Very much a movie geek’s movie, and I’m a huge movie geek so I suppose it appealed specifically to me, but I’d say funny to most people. I was wailing with laughter with tears in my eyes at several points.

One thing I wasn’t happy with was in the first few scenes, the Chief Inspector saying that Sandford was in Gloucestershire, when it’s in my home of Somerset. Dont quite know why they felt the need to change that, Somerset’s much more of a yokel-ey place.

Simon Pegg

Brilliant movie. Many many funny things;I pissed myself laughing at the Chinatown reference; loads of stuff funnier than anything else out there. Go and see it.

Okay, I concede to your (and other posters’) enthusiasm. I’m giving up smoking which has drained me of all humour…

I opens in the USA in April (20th I think)

I don’t know how wide it will open though.

Me too, as of tomorrow, so I’ll probably be agreeing with you by midday.
