Kindly bring your crazy, chickenshit ass the fuck down here so I can return the favor.
Seriously. How fucked.

Seriously. How fucked.
Was this the story you meant to link?
Well, that’s odd, the first time I clicked on your link, a different story page came up. Now it seems to be the beheaded dog story.
Never mind, carry on, and all that…
Is that the one about the dog’s head left on the doorstep? The interesting thing is that the news story you’re talking about is right under a story about a 6 yr. old boy’s body that was found. And your story is right under that one. So it looks like you’re more concerned about the dog than the child. Hmm.
You might also want to check out this thread, Can we please ban “recreational outrage” posts? to see how much people are enjoying these types of threads. I didn’t notice whether you were involved in that controversy.
On preview: Happy Lendervedder, yes, when I clicked the original link, I didn’t see the story either.
…And it looks like you’re more worried about a thread on a message board than either of these horrible stories! What kind of heartless freak are you?!
( )
No way, man! I was busy posting about getting some guy to feed his spider instead of taunting it. And I didn’t see you over there trying to get some help for this spider. What kind of heartless freak are you?
I saw the AP story that Comcast reported, not the msnbc article that Happy linked to.
Things aren’t always what they appear.
This isn’t recreational outrage (not that I was involved with that thread, mind you) this is real, honest-to-god, fist-wringing outrage.
The way I see it is, kids and domestic/companion animals are basically in the same category. Generally, they need protection from the world at large. They’re both innocent, they both depend on rational adult humans for care, feeding and general maintenance, and when someone does something as horrible as what was described in either article, whoever did it needs to be flushed from the gene pool, period, and if that means a .45 round to the temple, and 6 feet by 6 feet by 6 feet of freshly turned earth, so much the better.
But are you for or against the death penalty?
Now I bet that girl will help Johnny Fontane get that role in the senior class play that he has been so desperate for.
I’m generally against it, but in certain cases…
Then I can feel your outrage burning from where I stand!
But purely recreational in that you’re only posting it here to demonstrate to all of us, A) how morally correct you are, B) that you have a lot of extra time on your hands, which C) you’d rather spend wringing, and demonstrating your outrage, than actually doing something constructive.
Recreational in the sense that it’s pure sensationalist voyeurism, with the added benefit that it allows you a warm little glow of self-righteousness.
We need a BORING smiley.
From the article:
What? Terroristic threat? Am I alone in thinking that’s taking it a little too far?
Such as what, exactly? Should the OP be trotting off to Minnesota to feret out the asshole him/herself? Sometimes people need to blow off steam (like I’m doing here, as a matter of fact!) when they see something outrageous–and especially something this outrageous, where some poor, lonely little 17-year-old girl whose dog is apparently her only friend and confidant gets his head delivered to her wrapped as a present after weeks of making her search for him and worry about what happened to him. I’m with the OP…off the fucker! (Well, not really, but that asshole needs to be really punished!)
Pot, kettle…kettle, pot.
I saw this story on CNN the same day I came across the “Futurama Made Me Cry” link. All very depressing.
When I was a child, we had a cocker spaniel that some neighbor kids kidnapped and hanged from a tree down the street. I was an adult before my father told me what really happened. I never knew before then why the dog had disappeared.
lissener, can I ask what your suggestions for doing something about an outrage several states away should be?
I saw the story and agree with buttonjockey308 that it’s a pretty fucked up thing to do. But, I’m far less concerned about the life of the dog than what was done later: Wrapping the dog’s head, addressing it as a fucking present, and leaving with batteries attached to the present shows a dedication to making someone suffer that really does revile me.
While it’s not exactly in the Humane Society’s purview to comment on the sadism expressed towards the girl involved in all that effort, I do believe that it’s fair to say that that anyone twisted enough to get enjoyment from that is someone who should be stopped. And someone whom I’d suspect of being on the way to becoming a thrill killer. It’s still something that gets to me, that the reward is for evidence leading to the prosecution in the animal abuse case, not the psychological abuse towards another human.
But, what action should someone living out of state do? Ignore it? Get involved in the Humane Society locally? (Always a good thing, IMNSHO) I don’t like the call for mob justice. For this specific case, I don’t think that there is anything that can be done to directly affect it from out of state. I don’t even believe that there’s any need for additional legislation to combat this, I seem to recall that there is specific mention of the police looking into this specifically as a terroristic threat.
All that can be done for it, seems to be being done. So, yeah, I wanted to kvetch about this case, too, when I saw it. And I’m not likely to do much to combat it, directly myself. But I do think a meatier OP would have been more effective.
Argent Towers, delivering the head as a wrapped, addressed gift to the girl involved would terrorize me. So, I do hope you are alone in thinking it’s being taken too far.
In Soviet Russia, doorstep left on you!
Poor dog :(, but…well… life goes on. I fail to see how this is shocking. Now, if hypothetically it was the head of that girl’s missing younger brother, I could see a reason for Xtreme Outrage.
Oh please. The basic concept of this and every other message board is precisely what you’re accusing me of. Of course it’s recreational outrage! It’s all chatter from people who are struck powerless at the horrible and wretched things that their fellow humans do to each other and innocent bystanders get together and exchange bullshit and ideas about what they think and how superior they are because THEY didn’t do whatever it was that the OP brought to the attention of the crowd.
We all spend time wringing and demonstrating, but you have no idea how I spend my off time and what kind of difference that I actually make, so howsbout you just shut the fuck up.
I saw this story on another board earlier today. It’s not just the death of the dog that bothers me, we all know there are too many people who are cruel to animals (if the person did even kill the dog. Maybe it was hit by a car or something, who knows?) What really bothers me is how the person sent the head to the girl disguised as a present, with a note saying “Congratulations” and put Valentine’s Day candy in with the head. It upsets me not because of the animal part but because someone purposefully wanted to cause the girl as much pain as possible.
When I hear the words “terroristic threat” I think “terrorism,” not “scaring people.” “Terrorism” as in Al-Qaeda, 9/11, get sent to a military prison and locked up without due process, the-word-that-has-currently-been-defining-the-21st-century terrorism.
What I’m saying is that the word “terroristic threat” has some serious connotations, and maybe it’s not the right phrase to use. It’s not a stretch to imagine someone making the connection between a beheaded dog and a beheaded person in Iraq, and declaring it to be an act of terrorism. Look at what happened with the Aqua Teen thing in Boston. My point is that everyone is on a hair trigger about “terrorism” these days, and the word gets thrown around way too much.
