Ok, I didn't think that. But it's fairly amusing.

Did the formerly pregnant former wife die or not? I missed whatever resolution there might have been there, being distracted by thoughts and stuff.

Good thing you brought this up. I tend to forget that this show is still on, mainly since it had such a long hiatus.

I have started working Sudoku and whatnot during the show - it helps prevent getting too interested.

Yeah, April survived. Tender moment when Eric sat by her bed and held her hand, then Gail came in for a group hug. Kenchy decided to see patients in the clinic for the moment instead of keeping his bar stool from floating off.

They left April's fate up in the air a bit, didn't they?

For those keeping track the opening-credit morse code was "“A COSTLY DEAL”.

It sure didn't look to me like April survived. AFAIK, she's deader than disco...and was twice as annoying.

Ya know what makes sense. Promising 10% of your spring harvest and then using the farmers as hostage-collateral.

Sometimes it seems to take an act of Congress for me to maintain my suspension of disbelief.

That's why Eric left, wasn't it? Because April died?
What I don't get is why did farmer-boy go? Wouldn't they rather keep someone who has one of the largest, working farms left to make sure the spring crop is harvested?!?? I recall an episode where half the town had to come out to pick all the wheat and corn, right?

Hmmm. OK. I didn't get the sense that April was dying in that scene, but we'll see next week. Her death would make it easier for Eric to go, though, and make it more necessary for Kenchy to take her place at the clinic I would admit. I guess I'll watch the replay on On Demand and look at it again.

I was sure she died.

I liked the two songs they played towards the end, though I couldn't quite figure out who sang them.

Yeah, but it sets them up as being Bad Guys so Our Heroes can renege on the deal.
Since Eric is a hostage, it gives him license to do whack a couple of them.

Yeah, on a second watching, it's clearer now this was April's death scene. The first time I watched it, I thought she closed her eyes out of exhaustion and simply fell asleep. But realizing she died, the dialogue does make more sense, e.g. "I like the name Tracy." "Yeah, Tracy's a beautiful name." And Gail telling Eric she'll take care of Mary.

Also, did any of you get a sense that Jim suspected Hawkins was lying about Sarah going off to New Orleans and that Hawkins knew more about her disappearance than he was telling Jim? I thought it was very smart of Jim to have backup when he talked to Hawkins outside the refugee center.

Yes, I picked up on that as well. Hawkins just doesn't convince when he tries to give someone a cover story about what he's been doing.

The songs were "Hold On to Nothing" by David Gray and "Til Kingdom Come" by Coldplay.
