Uh. Hi all. I’ve just started getting into poker for fun recently, and I was wondering if I could join in on the local game. You guys play micro stakes weekly, right? The last mention I saw of location was Crazy Poker in the first quarter 2007 thread. Also, being in the US, how can I deposit money on the site of choice? I play for play money on Stars at the moment, and as far as depositing there goes I’ve had to go with the plan of hoarding loads of play chips and selling them to somebody.
I know of no good way to get money in. We mostly reload by playing freerolls (I think you can do it without an initial deposit) and taking money from other players in tournaments. If you can cash in a freeroll (enough for at least 7 weeks to begin with) we can dump money to you afterwards.
There are freerolls that pay 260 places a couple of times an evening on Crazy, that’s how I got my stake there. From what I recall, it’s hard to do player to player transfers on the site but I think some folks have made deposits with pre-paid credit card. We’d love to have you along, it’s .09 + .01 per week, even the lowest cashes on a freeroll would have you set for a couple of weeks. I’d gladly stake you a buck if we can figure out how to go about it.
That’s the theory, anyway. I tried the $1 tournament tonight. Let’s just say that everyone’s skulls are none the worse for wear. 44 out of 84, and only because my cards sucked so bad they were never worth betting on. Did anybody save the chat transcript from last night? I’d love to compare my hole cards with Duck’s. I still don’t know how you people do it.
On the brighter side, as I type this, ast is in 9th place. Go get 'em.
I’m signing up for Crazy Poker now, and during the process it asks if I was referred by anyone. I have no idea if there’s a bonus or something in it, but I might as well put one of your names in just in case :). I’ll wait a few minutes, if anyone wants me to put in their screen name just let me know what it is and then I’ll get cracking on those freerolls.
Referral bonus would only kick in with a deposit, so don’t worry about it.

Well, I busted out of my first freeroll. Had a good shot to triple up to about 4500 with pocket tens against A7 and AK, but a K on the river did me in.
The freerolls are weird - LOTS of all ins with cruddy hands. Newbies. Playing very conservatively works well. At least for me.
Hang back in your game, allowing the wheat to separate from the chaff and you’ll be funded for our funfest, replete with Duck threatening to skullfuck mommas, mf’ers, and right bastiges.
Is it possible to transfer money to other users on the site? I can deposit from Sweden.

Well, Duck was posting most of his hole cards in the chat. Mine were so bad I think I played two hands in forty minutes. And on the second one, I was all-in with the best hand and the other guy sucked out on me.
But, I did stick around for the freeroll. Won a buck. So, three hours, broke even. For me, that’s a good night.
Damn damn damn. I just busted out of the 1:00 pm freeroll 422/12000. I had above average stack, was in about 170/440 and went all-in QdTx on 5T7T board with three diamonds. River was Kd and he had AdJx for the nut flush. I should have just tried to coast into the money just to have an account balance >0 and gone for the win some other time.
