This may be one of the most brilliant things on the entire internet. The way a game works is that someone chooses a sentence, and the next player is asked to draw a picture of it. The third player is then asked to write a sentence describing the picture. This goes on for a while, and the meaning of the original sentence tends to be lost. For instance, “I love doing jumping jacks on the moon!” becomes “Fred was learning the hard way that even comets weren’t fast enough to escape the angels - all it did was piss them off.” Or “Merlin lived backwards through time. Goodbyes were happy, greetings, bittersweet. But don’t ask about the toilet.” can turn into “Dumbledore was capable of many amazing thing when he is sober, so it is unfortunate his pregnant girlfriend got him into heroin.” Of course, you really need to see the pictures to get the full comedy of each of these.
Forgot to mention: not all of these are 100% safe for work, so browse cautiously.
Awesome.
I’ve now found something else to do to waste my time. That site could really benefit from the amazing(ly bad) authors of the SDMB.
My family likes to play this when we get together. We do it on paper, and you fold down the previous person’s sentence/drawing before passing it on to the next player, so they only see yours. We call it “wipidifipi” (pronounced “wippi-di-fippy”) which stands for “write it pass it draw it fold it pass it.”
That site apparently has some kind of time limit on games. We should be able to do it here. I propose the following rules:
The first player puts a sentence in spoiler tags.
Like so.
The next player draws a picture and posts it to a hosting site of their choosing, and links to it here. Like so.
The next player writes a new sentence in spoiler tags and so on. Players should only look at the last thread posting.
Here is a sentence to get things started:
He gazed upon the can of compressed air, thinking of all the strange uses it could be put to.
Also, picture links should not describe the picture in any way, so as to preserve the secrecy required for increased silliness.
Yeah, they’ve got a one hour limit. I don’t think it’d be as much fun to have to highlight spoiler boxes and click on picture links rather than seeing the whole thing at once at the end.
Nice side benefit is that my PSP pictures have greatly improved since starting this new addiction.
My pathetic little stick figure drawings look really lame in comparison to some of the gorgeous, life-like, fully-colored graphics that some people submit to that thing. I’m much better at the sentences than the pictures.
Same here, but I do have a couple that I’m pretty proud of (one even got rated a 5!!) and, like I said, I’m getting better.
