Woman incinerates herself, abandoning husband, in the name of the cult of the child

I hate - absolutely despise - the idea that once a woman has a child, that child becomes her world and everyone and everything else, including her husband, can fuck off.

Link

This woman has abandoned her husband and other daughter in the name of the cult of the child; “I’d do ANYTHING for my children, even self-immolating so that my husband and other daughter grow up wifeless and motherless. ANYTHING. MY CHILD RIGHT OR WRONG.”

We’ve seen so many threads on here about how people would kill other children to save their own. This is a mental illness.

It’s disgusting and anti-human. That poor, poor man.

Are you retarded or something? Seriously. Are you?

All I see is a story about a woman running into a burning building to try and save her daughters and it not ending well. What’s this about a cult? You shot who in the what?

That woman in the link was fully human, and I empathize completely with her.

With the OP, not so much.

C’mon, OP, you can’t be this stupid, can you?

Clearly, you haven’t been paying attention.

Ooh goody! TLDR is on a spree tonight. And here I thought I was gonna be bored.

No kidding!

Seriously TLDRIDKJKLOLFTW have you forgotten the biological/scientific reasoning behind making babies?! People have children, so their genes continue on. Allowing the children to burn to death, is counterproductive to this deeply ingrained biological imperative. Eeesh!

I find it interesting that the OP thinks the man in question wouldn’t have been left alone anyway, when his wife, emotionally shattered from not doing anything to save her children, committed suicide or divorced him.

I was going to try to lay things out for the OP in clear words that it’s hard even for professionals to learn that they have to judge when they can try to help and when they can’t.

But considering the source, just fuck off, TLDR. I’m just surprised you didn’t say she was fat, too, and use that further blame her for a very human reaction.

I find it interesting that the OP is basically trying to find every subject that’s ever been a hot button issue in the history of the Dope and try to post it in one week. I’m expecting something about pet owners next. Or maybe gun ownership, that one’s always good for a page or ten…

Mostly I like to give the benefit of the doubt. For instance, he could be trying to set a record for most pit threads to get flipped around on him.

I agree with the other posters: Alphabet whatever the fuck your name is, the link you provide has ZERO evidence of an intentional immolation episode.
WTF is wrong with you?
Know something we don’t about this?
If so, share.
If not, fuck yourself for being a shit-stirrer.
Am I missing something here?
Please fight my ignorance if I am.

Is the OP some kind of message-board performance art? Sometimes we get that.

It’s moments like these that I miss the intellectual discourse of bjorn.

I knew someone who died in a fire because she ran back in to try to save her dog. While I did think it was a huge waste of a human life, on the other hand, I had to figure that she felt that A) she had a pretty good chance of getting in & out safely, and B) that she figured she couldn’t live with herself if she didn’t at least try. Who knows what any of us would do in that split second of having to make a life or death decision?

Some of the shit he comes up with is so strange I can’t help but chuckle.

Sarahfeena, I think you’re likely erring on the side of generousity towards the woman you’ve mentioned: I think it’s unlikely that she took the time to think about the risks associated with what she was about to do. I don’t think it’s a spinal reflex to try to do something, but in a crisis situation a lot of people will focus on the first action that comes to their mind, esp. when dealing with a person or a close pet in danger. It’s hard to take the moment when you’re imagining Fido stuck behind a shut door with flames licking around his feet, to ask yourself whether you can realistically run in, get Fido, and get out, before the situation becomes hopeless.

Though, I have to admit, for people without firefighting experience, it’s also very, very rare for them to accurately judge how quickly a fire may progress. So, she may have made an assessment, but a flawed one based on ignorance of how large scale fires behave.

Something about a woman, who joined a cult, and set herself on fire because her husband was poor, or something like that.

I for one am glad alphabet Charlie could take the time out of his busy schedule of rocking back and forth, working his horizontal index finger up and down between his pursed lips and blowing out, and making picture frames from gold painted macaroni to entertain us.
