"Siegfried" - Animated project, apparently?

Does anybody have any information on this?

As far as I know, Alex Alice is making a multi-volume graphic novel about the myth of Siegfried, based mostly in the Wagner interpretation of it -- In other words, the Ring cycle. BUT, it seems that, at the same time, a studio is preparing an animated version of the story for theatres. The link I have posted shows a trailer for the latter.

I haven't found information about possible release dates for this project.

Anybody here knows anything?

Also, what do you think of it? I think that it definitely shows promise... If / when it appears in theatres, I most definitely intend to see it!

Just my 2 eurocent!

I'm just glad he's recovered enough from the tiger attack to have a hero quest. (I wonder if Erda will be based on Roy.)

That looks cool. Trailer says October 19th, so I guess we'll probably see it in the US late next year.

Hmmm... I interpret the 19 October date as the date for the issuing of the graphic novel, though...

I hope they just stuck the Rheingold music on the trailer and keep the motifs for in the film. That was Mars at the end, was it not?

Yeah, the final bars were taken from "Mars" by Holst.

However, I must say that, in my opinion, the music they chose goes fantastically well with the trailer! I understand what you mean, though.

Well yes, until they leave the scenes from Das Rheingold, anyway.

After Beowulf and Siegfried, my guess is "Gilgamesh 3D" on IMAX is next.

Everyone up on this? It's three operas of Wagner's Ring Cycle, Das Rheingold, Die Walkure and Siegfreid. Leaving off the final opera, Gotterdammerung which according to George Bernard Shaw is no longer allegory but meaningless Grand Opera.

Let me rephrase that. Is anyone interested because it is made from Wagnerian opera, or does it just look and sound cool?

Wow - for once, an animated feature film that's not done in the slick Pixar/Disney X-TREEM 3D style, but in a more traditional format. Looks good to me.
