I think that most illeagal immigrants are here to make a better life for themselves and work very hard doing things most Americans don’t want to do. I DO think we should build a fence and secure our borders. However, at the same time, I support a “path toward citizenship” measure. Pay a fine, learn English, work hard, maintain a clean record, and you get to stay.
I don’t think marijuana use is a big deal. I’ve never smoked it myself, but everything I’ve heard suggests that it’s no worse than drinking alcohol.
I oppose the death penalty. I have no problems with it from a moral standpoint, but there have been way too many people who have sat in jail for 10 or 15 years before being found innocent. Odds are, innocent people have been executed, and the only reason we don’t know about it is because no one tries to prove the innocence of a dead guy.
I just went to the above address and took the test. I scored 18, which means I’m a little more liberal than Colin Powell but a deal more conservative than Bill Clinton.
Therefore I am always faced with these types of exceptions. I do tend to think of myself as conservative, but I don’t like Sean and think Laura is possibly even more annoying.
I’m a liberal, but the school voucher thing tempts me even though it is a little slide on the slippery slope. I wouldn’t deny another woman the right to have an abortion, but the whole idea saddens and repulses me to the core. I’m a Democrat, but I don’t have much sympathy for unionized labor, now that we don’t have 7-year-olds working in textile mills 14 hours a day. I’m a happily married person, but I sure wouldn’t tell another person who or what they can or cannot include in their marriage. I’d be disgusted by a society that didn’t have a mechanism to minimally care for its minimally useful citizens, but I’m disgusted by people who live on welfare as anything but a stopgap measure.
I have a serious problem with the concept of Union workers being able to hold consumers hostage when they go on strike against their employers.
I disagree with conservatives who believe that cells up to a certain stage of development are “babies”, or have any “rights”, but I empathize with their heartbreak over their idea that babies are being killed.
I’m a Republican with no party loyalty.
I’m undecided on abortion and against the death penalty.
I’m pro-gun and pro-war (in general, at least) but am personally a pacifist.
I think a balanced budget is more important than either lower taxes or retaining social services.
I think the government should not try to legislate morality, nor protect people from their own bad choices.
I’m pro-union and pro-free trade.
I think the feds should do less and the states more on everything not related to international security, commerce, environmental protection, and human rights.
I think neither sales, property, interest, capital, nor corporations should be taxed, but all income above a threshold should be taxed at a single (presumably high) rate.
I’m against tax deductions and exemptions.
I’m tired of one-dimensional political thinking.
I think women should have the right to abortion, although I wish they’d consider adoption first. However, I’m not going to prevent a woman from getting one.
I think we should drill for oil off the coast of Florida (both my senators are opposed, one Democrat, one Republican)
I think the most reasonable interpretation of the Second Amendment is that some sort of private entity not controlled by government must be able to keep and bear arms. Whether that is an individual person or some sort of collective militia can be debated, but the existence of a National Guard isn’t enough to satisfy the Amendment. And this has nothing to do with whether private gun ownership is good for society.
I would be OK with a complete ban on abortions after the first trimester. At some point in the developmental process a human being appears.
I support nuclear power as long as all associated radioactive material can be safely contained.
I think automatic citizenship for people born here should be abolished.
I think illegal immigrants should be immediately deported. Through my work, I know way too many people who have jumped through all the requisite hoops to live and work here to have any respect for those who come here illegally.
I think welfare benefits shoudn’t be granted longer than one year.
I wish Jackson, Sharpton, and Spike Lee would shut up.
I firmly believe that part of moving to the US is learning at least enough English to get by without having to rely on everyone else speaking your language.
I’m a supporter of the second amendment.
I think that our government spends too much money on helping other countries while we ignore our own problems.
I’m okay with the idea of nuclear power.
I think that we should deport illegal immigrants and maybe introduce a guestworker program that makes it difficult to work here and send all your money home. We don’t need to be providing welfare for other countries via illegal immigrant workers.
I’m a moderate but I can’t make up my mind whether there should be no abortion at all after the second trimester, or “abortion” on demand up to and even after the point of birth (I’m not sure consciousness is formed until well after birth.)
I did not realize that sleeveless shirts were a conservative issue. Personally, as a conservative, I think that most people who wear tank tops around town really, really shouldn’t.
OK, I’m a conservative, but:
I think George W. is the asshole of the free world.
I support abortion rights through the first trimester (I’m against partial birth abortion).
I’m an atheist, and I believe that the religious right will fuck this country sideways if we cut it any slack. I’m for the separation of church and state, and I’m against teaching either creationism or intelligent design in public schools.
I fully support gay marriage. For one thing, every argument against it eventually comes down to “Gay sex is awful becase it’s awful” or “God told us not to.” For another, if I’m miserable, they should be too.
I loathe Ann Coulter, and while I like Ben Stein as a person, I think he’s gone batshit insane.
