Nathan turned 10 today. I've been a single mom to him for 9 years and 7 months and our relationship is complicated- sometimes tortured, sometimes joyful, always open and real. We have been through a lot of medical and emotional difficulties but we're still here, that little boy and I- still making it. He is my baby, my last child, the most beautiful yet the most troubled. I still can't say for sure what will end up of him- I think he'll either be a game show host or a brilliant criminal. Very charismatic, oh so charming, and funny as hell. Add in the cuteness factor and the bottom line is, he will steal your heart. Whether he will use his special powers for good or bad remains to be seen, but I'm going to lean towards the former, for now.
Happy birthday, my itty bitty boy who is growing up and will be not a boy for much longer but soon a grown man. I love you more than breath.
Happy birthday to the others who were born on this day- there seems to be a lot of you.
