I find that the above mantra help me calm myself the fuck down when I encounter a Boards-related delay, which seems to be a very frequent occurence today. Also when I lose posts due to board slowness.
I do not know whom I’m addressing by “you” BTW but it definitely has something to do with the SDMB.
Um…you know what’s also helpful? Pushing yourself away from the computer, talking a walk, and calling your wife on your cell to tell her how wonderful she is. Or husband, kid, or best friend, as the case may be.
Okey-dokey, but I put in ATMB because it was a means of addressing Board issues that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of motivation in getting fixed. It’s not a very inventive pit thread.
I mean, this is getting really silly and really old to have a malfunctioning, delay infested buggy messageboard that we keep getting told is being worked on. What would you recommend as a reasonable timeframe to having these crashes, delays, lost posts etc resolved, after which we can just mutter and curse constantly? This summer? 2010? Never?
Did you mean to post this three months ago? Since the board was upgraded, I haven’t experienced any timeouts or even slowness. Okay, some occasional database errors (like maybe once a week), but backing up and trying the link again invariably works. That’s still a problem, but it’s a hundred times more reliable than it used to be.
Me, I’ve been experiencing almost exactly the same amount of timeouts, freezes, and slowness. Sporadically, but then it always was. It doesn’t matter whether I log on at home or at work–where I have a superfast connection and a somewhat better computer. Same thing.
I will say this, it’s better than it was 5 years ago, when I could barely post anything and could only read one-page threads (or the first page of multi-page threads).
So I have a crossword puzzle next to the computer…
