Your last meal of 2008

I had fun doing this thread last year, so I thought I’d do it again.

What was your last meal of 2008? At a vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Seattle, I had:

[ul]
[li]1 bottle of cabernet (well, my wife helped me drink it)[/li][li]mushroom-and-leek soup[/li][li]antipasti platter (tyrosalata, muhumara, olives, manchego sheep’s-milk cheese, roasted garlic, chickpea salad, grilled flatbread)[/li][li]cauliflower crepe with lentils, parsnip cream, apple balsamic, parmesan tuille[/li][li]salted-caramel mascarpone cheesecake[/li][/ul]
…Got home just in time to see fireworks from our window. A happy new year indeed.

How about you?

A filet smothered with mushrooms and green onions, baked potato with sour cream, cheesy rice & broccoli, and some garlic toast.

This was also my first meal of 2009, as I couldn’t finish it last night.

A frozen pepperoni pizza doctored up wwith onions, green peppers and extra cheese. California Pizza Kitchens was the brand.
Washed it down with a couple Heinikens.

The last thing I ate in 2008 was a boost bar.

The last meal I ate was a Marks & Spencer Tuscan style Sausage Penne (Microwaveable)

The first thing I ate in 2009 was a Bacon buttie.

My last meal of 2008: A piece of the lasagna that I made for dinner on Christmas Eve. It was three inches thick and smothered in sauce and cheese. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.

My first meal of 2009: A few pieces of the icing-drizzled bread that I baked for Christmas morning. Pair that up with some orange juice and a cup of hot tea and you’ve got a great breakfast.

We all went to a Chinese buffet. Fried potatoes, sweet and sour chicken, broccoli, chow mein, and crab rangoon. Yum!

Lean Cuisine cheese ravioli, coffee, and a strawberry yogurt.

I was at work, didn’t get home till after midnight since my shift ends at 11:30pm.

Leftover Chinese takeaway from Wednesday night, ah, the world of deep-fried, battered delights. Dry sparkling wine throughout the evening with potato chips, another long-time favourite.

First meal of 2009: tea with skim milk, one organic apple. See where my resolutions are? But at 11 a.m. I had a mini-lunch of turkey soup (still caloric likely, if my stock had fat in it, but loaded with celery and onions) and a kiwi.

Last meal of 2008: Tuna sandwich.

First meal of 2009: Diet coke, dried prunes and ramen noodle soup with freeze dried shrimp.

Last meal in 2008:
Champagne, crusty bread, cheese, and summer sausage.

First meal in 2009:
Crusty bread, can of cold Coca Cola, and a few handfuls of Goldfish.

Do snacks count as meals?

At around 11 PM last night I discovered that pouring chili on popcorn is possibly the best food-related invention ever.

Hello 2009!

missed edit: Spy Valley 06 Sauv Blanc- HIGHLY recommended!

Two Hebrew National hot dogs with catsup, mustard and sweet pickle relish, and a slice of prime rib a couple of hours later, which was leftover from Christmas.

New Year’s Eve we brought home pasta—Fettucini Alfredo with pesto and mushrooms/olives/chicken, lasagne and spaghetti with meatballs/marinara. Garlic breadsticks and gelato. We then went to see BB King, stayed up 'way too late and are making breakfast now. Cheese scrambled eggs, wheat toast, ham, coffee and orange rolls–like cinnamon rolls, but orange!

Last eats of 2008 were sort of a hodge-podge of snacks:

  1. spicy tuna roll with avocado from the grocery store
  2. cheese pizza from down the block
  3. Ben & Jerry’s S’mores and Magic Brownie
  4. a shared bottle of Prosecco

The last decent meal was one I made for my boyfriend’s birthday Monday night at my parents’ house:

  1. tilapia with balsamic brown-butter sauce
  2. whole-wheat bow-tie pasta with a creamy tomato/veg sauce
  3. green salad
  4. red wine (can’t remember - think it was a cabernet maybe?)
  5. chocolate birthday cake & ice cream

SOOO good. I wish I had a decent kitchen so I could make stuff like that all the time.

First (and only, so far) meal of 2009:

  1. everything bagel with cream cheese, smoked sockeye salmon, and capers
  2. apricot yogurt
  3. coffee from our yummy new coffee maker

So far, so good…

Last night:

Spaghetti with marinara sauce, and a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Mint Cookie ice cream for dessert.
Today:

So far, coffee and Doritos. It’s been a lazy year so far…

For various reasons beyond my control, we missed out on having any kind of Christmas dinner, so the last meal of 2008 was shrimp cocktail, a New York Strip roast, Yorkshire pudding, scalloped oysters, creamed spinach, and pear upside-down gingerbread w/ whipped cream.

Gosh that was two days ago now! It was quite warm. I just had some bread and a salad: lettuce, capscium, cucumber, avocado.

Last meal of 2008 - a lovely sirloin steak with a red wine sauce, chips and onion rings.

First meal of 2009 - bacon butties!
