Your last meal of 2007

Inspired by a blog post (heck, what isn’t?) that I saw today:

What was your last meal of 2007? At a little French bistro near Seattle University, my wife and I shared:

2 glasses of kir
1 bottle of burgundy
mushroom-and-pear soup
herb omelette
fries
green salad with mustard dressing
baguette & butter
2 cups of coffee

…We would have had cheese or dessert, but we were stuffed. Got home just in time to see fireworks from our bedroom window. A happy new year indeed.

Fish and chips down at the beach, with icecreams in the car on the way home.

Caesar salad, followed by lobster ravioli in a really nice white sauce with diced tomatoes. A couple of hot rolls. Diet Coke before, water with, coffee after.

Sounds yummy. Can’t compete. Leftover biscuits and sausage gravy.

Um, cheese and crackers, peanut butter on celery, spinach dip and bread, pretzels, peanut butter fudge covered popcorn, southern comfort, doctor pepper, whiskey sour, and mudslides.

Obviously, it was get together party time, and obviously you all will have me beat.

A Philly cheesesteak, leftover from our post-Christmas trip to Philly. Those are good, even re-heated.

Leftover pizza - me: garlic chicken, him: cowboy (like a supreme)
Dr Pepper
Vanilla Rice Pudding
Martini&Rossi Asti Spumante

Pizza with BBQ Sauce, chicken, bacon, and onion. Yeah, my co-worker was buying dinner for all of us stuck at work, and we didn’t have the heart to tell him how bad his favorite pizza sounded. It was alright.

Appetizer: Smoked duck breast atop grilled polenta
Salad: Mixed greens, pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts, dried cranberries and goat cheese served with shallot vinaigrette
Lemon sorbet
Main course: Grilled beef filet served with lobster flake and sauce bernaise, sour cream and chive whipped potatoes, spaghetti squash and steamed asparagus
Dessert: Marquis au chocolate; chocolate genoise cake layered with chocolate ganache topped with hazelnuts and chocolate leaf.

And then we danced until midnight.

It was at the Denver West Sheraton New Year’s Eve party.

Chips & dip, mountain dew, cheese cubes, pepperoni sticks, mini corn dogs, fruit with cream cheese/yogurt dip, mini chocolate bars, some kind of pizza appetizer thing that tasted damn good…

Mm… reading this isn’t helping the January diet!

Four egg rolls, chow mien, chop suey, almond chicken, fried rice, two chicken balls, two fortune cookies, and water. At home, I nibbled the last chocolates and drank two glasses of diet cream soda. I was too full to drink the wine I’d bought on the way home from dinner out, so I toasted with the diet cream soda.

Officially for dinner we had crusty bread, pasta primavera and sausage lasagna.

Since it’s a long night, we also had a variety of chippage, baked brie with cranberries and walnuts, pickles and olives, crackers cheese and summer sausage, veggies and dip, tortilla chips with the choice of mango salsa, guacamole or salsa/cheese/sausage dip in the crock pot, roasted red pepper hummus with pita and a metric assload of cookies and mini-cheesecakes.

No one went home hungry!

A deep-fried turkey, deviled eggs, stuffed mushrooms, spinach artichoke dip, little wieners in barbecue sauce, shrimp cocktail, veggies and dip.

We had a BBQ on New Year’s Eve - so it was steak, sausages and salads. And some pavlova with whipped cream.

Two Dos Equis, a bone-in sirloin, shrimp with cocktail sauce, baked potato with sour-cream and margarine, and a bowl of ice-cream.

Tamago nigiri
Kani Kami Nigiri
Miso Soup
Edamame Salad
Green Tea
Spicy Hamachi Gunkanmaki
Kanpeki na Karai Maguro Hako-zushi AKA Perfect Spicy Tuna Roll
Red Bean Ice Cream

Later on, after the driving around was done, two bottles of Moet White Star.

IItalian beef stew
Olive bread

A little Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt and a Hansen’s raspberry soda later

Entertainment was provided by episode after episode of South Park.

Chicken fingers and fries. Lots and lots of Red Bull.

Spaghetti and meatballs and some white wine.

Meat, bread, beer and bourbon. I suppose I should have had something from the chocolate food group for balance.
