Rare Bugatti race car found in English garage

And it’s estimated to be worth as much as £6 million

A very pleasant surprise for the nephew and other family members!

I bet it would costs heaps to get it back into working order.

Did you see the Bugatti they found on Chasing Classic Cars a few weeks back? That was a great episode.

If only I could remember where I parked mine…

If only my father could remember where he parked his…

There was also an Aston Martin in there, too!

Remarkable car. I knew the guy who used to own this related mode, a Type 57SC.

The front 5/6ths of the car is lovely. But the rounded rear look almost always just seems sloppy.

Shame.

Unfortunately, not my crazy uncle.

This is going to be a nasty fight between the relatives for who gets the money.

A World War Two spy drone?

Scooped!

A Hasselblad suspended from a barrage balloon with a chain of Spam tin rings would be my first guess.

Actually, this is more interesting than the car.

No offense intended, Tuckerfan.

Cool story. Alas, not every compulsive-hoarding story ends so well: Collyer brothers - Wikipedia

I’m not a car person, I haven’t even owned one for 19 years, but I find myself fascinated and entranced by this story. I’d only ever vaguely heard of Bugatti cars, and had never seen one, but I’ve fallen in love with them, this type especially, now that I know about them.

My husband, who not only is not a car person but has never driven, also finds the story very cool. He went to Jay Leno’s site to see if Leno, probably the most famous classic car enthusiast in the world, was into Bugattis. Oh yes, most definitely! He owns 4!

There’s a video at the web site of Leno showing off the Bugatti that’s like the model found in England. He even takes it out and drives it around. I was thrilled watching it. I’ll bet he’s drooling about this find. I wonder if he’ll bid on it. I wouldn’t doubt it.

I remember a few years ago where someone bought an old farm. Ireland/England/Scottland I think.

There was a big old “barn” that was locked up. It really didnt matter compared to the value of the land or other buildings so the buyer didnt even bother to look inside.

There were literally dozens of rare and valuable old cars inside!

Anybody with good google foo want to hunt down that story?

Here’s a link. The original story that circulated was apparently was one of those “real photos, wrong story” deals.

I’m with you. The car is neat, yeah.

But the spy drone, whether or not it still works, just has much more geek appeal.
