Teabagger is clever. It is appropriate because these idiots murk up the political waters in a bitter way just by being in them. Your little retorts are pathetic.
The teabaggers started it anyway. They were just too unhip to know what it meant.
Teabaggers are in general uninformed simpletons. Any smart Teabaggers are there because they would rather side with morons than have no support for their ideology.
I noticed the television news people in the last week have been completely not using the term no matter what the guests have used and are saying tea party. I’ve watched them pause for a second where they almost say teabagger and then say tea party. The period of smirking at the clueless person referring to themselves as teabagger is coming to an end I fear. Even the dense people are realizing it’s a sexual term.
I was listening to The Political Junkie this week on NPR and the banter went something like this:
Guest: yada, yada, yada, Teabaggers
Host: Tea Party
Guest: What did I say?
Host: [slight pause] Something else.
Well, according to kingbighair’s link, one of those “dense people” was none other than NPR’s Gwen Ifil.
The idea that it’s only the uneducated rednecks who are “clueless” is a stretch. (I know you didn’t put that in your post, but others have in other threads.)
I agree with the OP. The fact that Frank and Maddow are gay means that the teapartyists have a valid point. I’m sure any day now they will be able to coherently explain it.
The OP is making what we in the trade call a “bad analogy”.
Even if we disregard who use the term “teabaggers” first, that term is out there in common use to label that movement. Additionally, they used teabags in their protest, and it’s therefore not a stretch to refer to them by that moniker.
“Ass-reamer” is pulling a term out of thin air to refer to a gay Congresscritter to specifically make fun of his sexuality.
There are much worse abuses on this MB where derogatory language is used without comment to demonize the opposition. And I’d be the first to say it is those on the left who are the bigger offenders in this area. So, the OP would be better off focusing on more defensible complaints and let this one go.
In the interest of eradicating ignorance and all that, who the fuck is ‘Big Sis’?
And in the interest of building bridges with those of other political persuasions, I hereby promise never to use the term ‘teabagger’ to describe the current crop of right-wing protesters. I reserve the right, however, to continue to use the term ‘morons’ as the situation warrants.
When I was at college the local college-rag had ‘man on the street’ section. Over parents’ weekend, my folks were visiting and happened to pick up the paper, and the man on the street section asked a number of students what courses they thought should be added. One of them said “teabagging”. My mother (a hip, ex-hippie non-profit executive director) didn’t understand and wanted me to explain.
Lets all get up and dance to a song that was a hit before
Your mother was born.
Though she was born a long, long time ago
Your mother should know
Your mother should know…
