Ok, let’s see just how much interest there is in this. We did it this way for a couple of years before moving over to the Fun Office Pools version last season. But there were a couple of requests that we run both pools this year, so let’s give it a shot.
We’ll be running this one the same way as was done in the 2008 pool. You pick who you think will go home in which position (#12 goes home first, #1 wins AI). If you pick the a particular contestant’s exit week exactly right, you get zero points. If you’re off by one week, you get one point; off by two weeks, you get two points; etc…at the end, the person with the lowest total score wins.
Any questions, let me know or check the thread linked in the previous paragraph for any minor rulings. Ok, here’s how I see it coming down:

I was hoping this game would be revived this year. Too bad I just deleted the rest of the season from my DVR in utter disgust. BUT since this is a “one and done” deal there’s no harm in playing. Most of my top 12 picks this year have been booted and in '07 I think I picked David Cook for 6th place or something, so who the hell knows?

I’m a little scared that I might be right, but I think we’ll be seeing a lot more Tim Urban and Katie Stevens than we can handle…and Siobhan and Crystal might have a bit of trouble connecting personality-wise - Allison definitely had that problem last year. Hopefully they’ll both manage to get deep in; they are really the only worthy vocalists, imo.

Woohoo! Thanks much, Pleonast! I had taken a couple of Excel courses recently, one of which was on formulas, so I had it in mind that I’d see if I could replicate what you had done in previous years. I’m very relieved that I can continue my practice with non-public spreadsheets for awhile yet. 
I haven’t been following the show this year, but what the heck – maybe I’ll be the equivalent of the office secretary who knows nothing about basketball but wins the NCAA pool based on which schools’ mascots are deemed cuter.

I haven’t looked at others’ predictions in detail, so my apologies if I duplicated someone else’s guesses. Apologies also to my girl Siobhan, who I am personally rooting for to win, but I don’t think she will; the quirkiness I love about her may be her undoing. Big Mike, on the other hand, has a dramatic back-story, good personality, and the voice to take it all, I think. But if I’m proven wrong and Siobhan wins, hey, that’s okay too.

I think Crystal’s gonna be solid throughout, but Siobhan has the greater capacity to crowd-please, and only one girl will survive the top 3 showdown. Casey’s gonna ride the teen girl vote, but Lee’s “Danny Gokey” voice will win him a top-4 slot. Big Mike’s backstory, voice, and likability will serve him well, but Siobhan will give the bigger “wow” to win it all.
