Let's make a zombie mix!

I have decreed that we shall put together a playlist of songs that are either explicitly about **zombies **or could be reasonably construed to refer to such. Here is what I have so far:

The Magnetic Fields, “Zombie Boy”
Metric, “Help, I’m Alive”
The Mountain Goats, “Southwood Plantation Road”
The Red Light Sting, “Dirt Eating Zombies”
Sufjan Stevens, “They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back from the Dead!! Ahhhh!”

List your zombie songs!

Zombie, The Cranberries

You need the Monster Mash. It was a graveyard smash.

No zombie mix would be complete without Jonathan Coulton’s “Re: Your Brains.

Also, “Zombie Me” by No More Kings.

Be Your Own Pet: Zombie Graveyard Party
Faith No More: Zombie Eaters
Tom Petty: Zombie Zoo

Anything by Zombie Nation or Rob Zombie…

Damn you, those were at the top of my list.

If you want to stretch a point, Voltaire has a song called Brains!, but it’s about a brain-eating space monster, not zombies. It turns its victims into zombies, though…? :stuck_out_tongue:

There is NO EXCUSE for not having Zombie Jamboree by Rockapella.

Listen NOW.

The Cramps - Surfin’ Dead
Misfits - Astro Zombies
The Cramps - Zombie Dance
The Tombstone Brawlers - Die You Zombie Bastards!
The Meteors - She’s a Zombie Now
Zombie Ghost Train - Zombie Beach
The Besties - Zombie Song
Leslie Hall - Zombie Killer
Messer Chups - Zombie in a Mini Skirt
Zombie Girl - Go Zombie, Living Dead Superstars, and just about anything by them.
HorrorPops - Walk Like a Zombie
Misfits - Night of the Living Dead

Big Trouble—Man Man (as made famous here)

Lordi - Night of the Loving Dead (no that is not a typo)
Voltaire - Zombie Prostitute

A fine version. I can’t find another one of my faves - calypso style, it took me several times to figure out what it was.

Thriller

Brand New Cold Wave Goth…

Diamond Rings- Wait and See

“Hangin’ out half past midnight with the Freaks and Ghouls.”

Reminds me of early Cult, just after the Death Cult Schism. Brings me back to Little Face, but with a One Man Band sampler and not much vocal range.

And before anybody protests. I love the song and find myself listening to it, over and over, but it’s the sonic parallel of a zombie thread around here, to this OG. It’s like a ressurrection of a long dead tune… I’m not sure if I want to kill it or let it eat my brain.

John Fogerty “Eye of the Zombie”
Roky Erickson, “I Walked with a Zombie”
Nick Cave, “Dig Lazarus Dig” (maybe too subtle, depending on your purposes)
Lars Frederiksen, “Army of Zombies”
Aquabats, “Fashion Zombies”
Barbarellatones, several songs, most fun maybe “Zombie Drag Queen”
Natalia Kills, “Zombie” (“Do you want me for my brain?” :p)

Tilt, “Animated Corpse.”

Rob Zombie, “Living Dead Girl”

Dead Man’s Party - Oingo Boingo

Single File, “Zombies Ate My Neighbors”

Time of the Season
She’s Not There
Tell Her No

All featured Zombies prominently
