What is this weird bug?

My husband send me this picture from his phone. He said there's several of them flying around in the building he's doing work in (he's a plumber).

What the heck is it? It looks like something from a fantasy video game.

Some sort of moth.

It's a hawkmoth of some kind. not sure which species.

I've seen some like this — and mistook them for hummingbirds! Some of those suckers are big.
