Songs about cars or driving

I'm putting together a CD for a friend who is getting a car

I've found some lists of songs about cars/driving, but they tend to include every song ever known to man that has the word "drive" or "road" in it, regardless of whether it actually has anything to do with cars.

So far, I have:

Wheels of a Dream- from Ragtime
Drive My Car- The Beatles
Born to be Wild- Steppenwolf
On the Road Again- Willie Nelson
No Particular Place to Go- Chuck Berry
Life is a Highway- Tom Cochrane
Greased Lightning- from Grease
I'm In Love With My Car- Queen
Going Mobile- The Who

there's one in particular my dad used to like and I can't remember any of the specific lyrics to look it up. It was something about everything being okay when you're in your car, your car being where you want to be most, something like that. I think it's from the seventies because my dad talked about liking it when he was a kid. I really don't know how popular it was.

share your favorites, please!

I'll let others fill in with songs like "Hot Rod Lincoln", "Little GTO", "Fun, Fun, Fun (Till her daddy takes her T-bird away)"
And submit "Running down a dream" by Tom Petty, where the singer is definitely driving his car along (cruise control, pedal down) and also a favorite for other band call-out lists ("Me and Del were singing, Little runaway"

Wait - do you mean "Cars" by Gary Numan?

Any driving song collection without Deep Purple's "Highway Star" is incomplete.

"Radar Love" by Golden Earring fits the bill too.

"Ol' 55" by Tom Waits and "Sweet Little '66" by Steve Earle represent the Chevy contingency nicely.

Belle & Sebastian's "I Love My Car" (music lyrics) is not about cars and driving, but it seems like a good fit, to me, for someone who has a new car.

I don't think these have been mentioned yet:

"You Can't Catch Me" - Chuck Berry
"Born to Run" - Bruce Springsteen (obvious)
"One Piece at a Time" - Johnny Cash
"Dead Man's Curve" - Jan & Dean
"Gear Jammer" - George Thorogood (may not qualify since it's about a truck)

502 - Megadeth

Driving fast makes me feel good,
The speed of light trapped under my hood.
Breaking laws, 'cause there's nothing to do.
Driving the interstate, stopped for a 502

Hundreds of miles rolled off today.
Signs lose their meaning, minutes tick away.
Dirt roads to interstates, I must have drove them all.
Cigarettes and burgers, caffeine and alcohol.

I don't know. If this mix is for listening in the ride, that might be like showing an air disaster movie in flight.

"Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy)" by Jim Croce might fit nicely.
Do we want your friend to be wrapping the vechicle around a tree when she misses the curve due to excess speed, BTW? "Cause so far, it looks like we're trying to kill her dead.
Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf, if no-one's mentioned it yet.
