Got a very strange text from a number not recognized. Is there any free way to find out who it belongs to?

Not for free typically, but if it is a spammer many times the number will show up in some of the online forums for tracking these kind of things.

Google the number it claims to be from in either XXX-XXX-XXXX or XXXXXXXXXX format and you may find it.
