Jersey City (+NYC, +NJ) Dopefest: June 18!

Hi Everybody,

I hereby invite everybody to the Zeppelin Beer Garden in Jersey City at 12pm on Saturday, June 18.

Address: 88 Liberty View Drive, Jersey City, NJ

  1. Driving is easy!

  2. Public Transit from NJ or NYC is easy!

  3. Kid Friendly on afternoons!

  4. Great beer!

  5. Real German sausages, but also vegetarian friendly! (My wife, Liberty3701, and I are both vegetarian. I also had the sausage before I went veg, and I can attest that all the food is good.)

New Yorkers: If you don’t know about the PATH trains, they are a miniature subway system that connects Manhattan to 4 cities in NJ. It is a 10 minute PATH ride from the World Trade Center to the Grove street stop where Zeppelin is. This means that it is especially easy to travel between Downtown Brooklyn and Jersey City.

New Jerseyans: It’s right off of Exit 14C on the turnpike. OR, it’s a 15 minute PATH ride from Newark Penn Station. From Hoboken, you can take the PATH or the light rail. Bayonne? Weehawken? North Bergen? West New York? The Zeppelin is freaken adjacent to the Jersey Ave light rail stop!

Everybody: Use Google Maps.

It’s a thought, I could maybe make it. Who else?

June 18 is my birthday, and this is a feasible trip, so everybody coming will have to be nice to me.

There. That should drive a stake through your little Dopefest plans.

Yep, it was all a ploy to make E-Sabbath be nice to you.

Ah, yer mudder… was a very respectable woman.

You wanna step outside the beer garden and say that again?

I will be at the Zeppelin Beer Garden for a reunion on the 14th. Could come back a few days later …

Does “kid friendly” mean there’s stuff to keep a five-year-old occupied, or do they just refrain from beating them until the dinner rush?* I’ll have The Littlest Briston that day, so this kinda makes a difference.
*Although I suppose there might be some room in the middle there…

There’s a large outdoor sitting area (in addition to the 3 rooms inside) with large picnic tables. During the afternoon, it’s not crowded, and I was planning on taking over an out of the way corner area where people don’t usually sit.

Also, a couple of weeks ago, my brother-in-law brought his 2-year-old daughter who was playing with a couple of other small kids there.

Arright, cool – I’m a tentative “yes”, contingent on how much I get done with this week’s move and unpacking.

[gratuitous bump]

Great! Now we have Jamaika a jamaikaiaké, liberty3701, E-Sabbath, pseudotriton ruber ruber, nofloyd, Hal Briston

Who am I forgetting? I’ll bring name tags, I suppose.

[/gratuitous bump]

Welp, everything still on?

Aaand reality rears its ugly face. My front tires are down to their wear marks, which means new tire day Saturday. Which will be most of the day.

Yep!

So we will be at the beer garden tomorrow at noon.

We will take the farthest table in the outside area. If all else fails, PM me for a cell number.

Check.
Must say, the 2 beers I had Tuesday night there hit me like a ton of bricks.

…which, unfortunately, is now a definite “no”. The move went well, but the unpacking has scarcely begun. I forgot to factor in the whole “paint three rooms” thing into the equation. Have a good one, all!

We’ll be looking forward to meeting nofloyd and PRR!

I’ll PM my cell just in case.

Last minute bump!

See youse soon.

Well, that was $641 I really didn’t want to spend. Four tires and an alignment.
