Gayest Scene in a Non-Gay Film

The 5000 Fingers of Dr T.

Holy freakin’ crap! Even the name of this picture would raise eyebrows in the deeply closeted fifties. But this scene, ummmm, suuuure, it’s a kiddie picture.
There’s an oiled up bare-chested executioner in a black hood running an elevator in another scene, just to add a little bondage flair.

What movie scenes would you nominate?

The first thing that popped to mind is the one ghostly (male) partygoer giving another one a BJ in The Shining, but I’m sure I can think of more.

I sure hope it was better in the book.

I didn’t get gay so much as early Star Trek on acid.

The first thing that popped in my head was the volleyball scene in Top Gun.

Top Gun.
eta: beaten to the gay by Rand. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

When I was a teenager, that sort of claim made indignant girls, myself included, annoyed. It was just a nice scene with lots of bare chested men, why does that have to be homo-erotic instead of meant to appeal to female viewers? Now that I’m older and wiser, I know that a lot of women find homo-eroticism hot too (slash, anyone?) so it’s a fine movie choice for straight gals and gay guys both

The skinny-dipping scene from “Road to El Dorado”
The characters sharing a horse in “Road to El Dorado”
Actually, about half the scenes from “Road to El Dorado”

This one. Nothing comes close. Especially at the very end.

This is merely one of several ultragay scenes in Jarhead, which in my opinion is as close to gay porn as one can get without actually crossing the line.

There’s a shower-room scene in Top Gun that’s even better, i think.

The answer is “300”
The question is “On a scale of one to ten, how gay was that movie?”

So many to choose from from the classic Nightmare on Elm Street II. See, too, this Cracked article.

Herod (Gene Hackman) telling Cort (Russell Crowe) how much he’s always had an itch, a desire, a burning need to fight him in The Quick and the Dead had a homoerotic subtext to me.

Louis (Brad Pitt) and Armand (Antonio Banderas) having a near kiss in Interview With the Vampire also had connotations.

Spartacus. “My taste includes both snails and oysters.”

They’re males in an Anne Rice story. Of course they’re gay.

Are we even sure Top Gun is a non gay movie?

Top Gun Explained

Weren’t those characters gay and one of them was a prostitute? It’s covered as backstory in the book.

I think this gets a pass too because one of the major themes of the movie is how they basically have cabin fever from continual drilling against non-existant enemies and are kept at such a fever pitch with so much charged energy that they are ready to snap at a moment’s notice.

All that being said, I nominate the embrace between Rocky and Apollo in Rocky III.

I thought we were limiting this to “non-gay films.”

Frodo and Sam in the Lord of the Rings movies, but would of been worse if they added the Crickhollow bath scene from the book

The sexual harassment scenes in “Spartacus” and “Lawrence of Arabia.”

The wrestling scene in “Borat.”

Actually, any wrestling on TV.
