Recycled from an old discussion on another board about Vidal/Guccione’s Caligula, which I recently had occasion to reread. It was being debated what it would take for porn/erotica to cross the line into the mainstream, and someone opined that there’s no crossing the gulf between a movie you masturbate to and one you don’t. To which someone else claimed that’s not necessarily the most reliable rule of thumb.
