I just wanted to mention my happiness that everyone on my ignore list has now been banned or suspended. I hate seeing gaps in the conversation flow, and wondering what I might have missed. I just hate that very slightly less than reading posts from certain individuals … I know that puppies and flowers don’t usually end up here, but this is the only place you’re allowed to imply who you might or might not have on ignore. (Otherwise, this would have been a reply in ATMB.) So today’s Pit post is brought to you by sunshine and rainbows. Rock on!

Interestingly, the last two posters who weren’t on my ignore list got banned recently, so now all I get is a log of blank spots on the board. It’s quite disconcerting…
(I actually never put anyone on ignore, but could see why someone would have the two recent banned 'dopers on ignore)

I put a couple of people on ignore for a while. It was just as annoying so I took them back off the list and just stopped reading them.
The cynic in me believes my least favorite poster will be back soon.
Yeah, the ignore feature kinda sucks. It doesnt stop the derailing and you get to read half of a retarded conversation rather than the whole retarded conversation. About the best that can be said about it is that it keeps your blood pressure down until someone (and there is always someone) takes the troll bait and then its off to the races.
There are just two people left on my list that haven’t been banned. One is on ignore just to keep me from snapping at them because their posting style annoys the ever-living shit out of me. It’s nothing I can affect, so why should I let it get to me to that extent? It’s easier to just ignore them. The second is just an annoyance, whose arguments just lead down a rabbit hole. If I want to engage again, I have to go through that extra layer of annoyance to do so.
Wait: did you figure out a way to block quotes? I’ve missed that since I upgrade Firefox.
No, nor the “this user is on your ignore list” notices. I really wish that FFVBulletin plug-in still worked.

Does that not work with the newer versions of FF, I’m glad I haven’t upgraded. I only have one person on it, but like Munch said it’s only because his posting style drives be absolutely batty. Not just once in a while either. Every single post makes me want to reach through the screen and break his fingers. I can live with the fact that his posts are useless, pointless and meaningless and when the aren’t it’s because they were mentioned upthread…that I can deal with, it’s just the style. It’s silly of me, but my skin crawls just thinking about it.
As for the “this user is on your ignore list,” that always seemed kind of silly to me. I only have FFVB installed at home, when I’m at work, I always end up clicking on it anyways, then I get all annoyed with myself for doing it. Gotta love FFVB, it’s like he doesn’t even exist on the board anymore (unless he happens to be the last poster in a thread and I notice it one of the forums or someone mentions him by name).
It does not. It stopped working after FF3 - I never upgraded to FF4, but went straight from 3 to 5. The developer stated that he or she would have to rewrite the entire code for it to work past FF3, and wasn’t willing to do that.
I miss it.
The people on my Ignore List will never be banned. They aren’t trolls, just garden-variety assholes.
