Tosh.0 3.27 - the gross segment

Warning. This flows past TMI territory into the stuff-of-nightmares land

I believe last night's Tosh.0 was a new one. I'm a bit curious about the grossout segment. Tosh started it out with a Chinese villager who was born with two heads. Saying he was just getting started, he then moved on to a guy squeezing black sludge out of his nipple, a guy ripping his toenail off, and a guy taking....I don't know. Some sort of alien lifeform out of his nose. With each one you got the audience's reaction of squealing and disgust and cowering and laughing.

And then came this girl. I assume it was a girl. They didn't show much of the clip but what you could see was that the left side of her face was burned off. Like, not fire burned off, but, I don't know, nuclear blast burned off. There was no skin, no eyeball, just skull for 25% of her face. And the audience just stopped. A few gasped but almost no one knew what the hell to do or how to even react to this video.

I'm hesitating to even ask this but...what in the hell happened? What was that? Or maybe don't tell me. I don't know.

I saw a few seconds of that video, but not on Tosh. It was basically the same as the damage done to Two-Face in The Dark Knight. I couldn't 1) watch more than a short clip, 2) believe that person was alive, and 3) stick around long enough to figure out how it happened. Sorry I can't be of more assistance, I just wanted to acknowledge your pain.

It's not often that I squirm under the covers, but that was not what I wanted to see right before going to bed.

I couldn't watch the nose or toenail thing, but I was alright with the rest. I assume the girl was a burn victim. Possibly in combination with an explosion or car accident. What was harder for me to watch with that one was the way they stuck that cotton ball in her eye socket. If only because it (the cotton) looked dry and I just imagined it sticking to the inside of her eye socket and sort of shredding/falling apart and her having little pieces of fiber stuck in there. I'm sure, in reality, it was gauze.

Joey P's already covered it, I think, but Tosh didn't ever try to explain how the skull lady got that way. Instead, what was shown was a (presumably) doctor cleaning/debriding her empty eye socket. It's exactly what you think, and it was horrifying.

Yeh, the Booger from Satan and the toenail were not easy for me to watch. I had to sneak glances as my wife cackled with glee. I've seen the two-faced chinese guy before, I think on That's Incredible in the 80s. That was old footage. I wonder if he's still around.

As for the bloody ichor that was oozing out of that dude's nipple, I wasn't squeamish so much as I was agape in horror. What the hell was happening there?!

Skull lady was very disturbing, but only on the level of knowing you can survive an accident like that. Reminds me of the season 4 ending of a certain show.

I was actually kind of heartened by the audience response to that clip. I mean, boogers and big hematoma/cysts and peeled-off toenails are grody and all, but you have the feeling that despite the awfulness of it the person so afflicted is going to be just fine, right? Once that toenail is off, dude is going to get on with his life. But that 'burn' lady -- she's gonna die. That's not going to get better. You're seeing a person in the process of dying. And that took the wind out of folks' sails, as I think it should have.

Yeah, my professional opinion is that she had a nonsurvivable injury in the long run. It's not so much the loss of the cheek or the eye but the big slabs of exposed bone with no evidence of granulation tissue. That bone is dead. I don't see how she can survive that, longish-term, without massive surgical intervention and some pretty heroic nutritional support.

I think she had been surviving for awhile. She was sitting up and wearing normal clothes, and what was left of the skin looked scarred. It takes a long time for severe burns to scar. Although, I 'm sure her life was greatly shortened by what ever hell did that to her.

The Hell Booger reminded me of something gross/funny that happened to a coworker.
He was on his buddy's boat, (his first time on a boat). He got sick and threw up. But he wasn't that bright to begin with, plus he had been drinking, so he vomited into the wind and the wind gave it right back to him.
Fast forward a few days.... He kept smelling something bad but couldn't figure where it was coming from. It lasted for a couple of weeks. Somebody suggested that he probably had a sinus infection. He got some nasal spray. When he squirted it up there it made him sneeze so hard, that something flew out of his nose.
It was a rotted piece of meat from the pizza he had been eating on the boat.
